Mafia - Game in progress [Edited title]

And not everything I said was trustworthy.

I didn’t care about the rest.

Even post game I don’t know what you’re trying to say then, Meeko. It was a fun game, and lots of interesting things in the spoilz. Congrats, Town.

You said I was town.

I then quoted and used it later.
Do you regret doing this now?

No I don’t regret including that information at the time that I chose to share (some of) the scum’s information. At best it was intel to help rule you out as a possible third party so that resources that could be used to actually find the third parties would not be wasted on you. At worst it was WIFOM as to whether I was being honest about you. Further, Lightfoot saw what I said the first time around, as did everyone else, so I’m not sure how you ‘used it’.

So my reveal was kind of murky, but for those who were wondering; I started out as a Vanilla town, in possession of the Book. Night 1 I had access to the Zombie making spell only, and created ZombiePizza. Turns out any Human killed by on the previous Day/Night cycle would be reanimated, so lynches and Vig kills. I never got a straight answer on SK kills. Night 2 I learned and used a protection spell which would have ‘used up’ a zombie if I was attacked. Nght 3 I learned an obfuscation spell which would shield me from investigation and that I could create a Minion if I had three Zombies. This is also the Night I was possessed by the Demon and became Third Party. I decided to cast the obfuscation spell. Night 4 I created two more zombies hoping to get my minion, but I was called out and lynched that following Day. My Wincon was based on SK being dead and number of remaining players depending on my zombies and/or minion.

ETA: can I get access to Spoiled boards?

that was fun, thanks for hosting storyteller

Answering Astral’s question about Meeko here to avoid spoilers…

Meeko has played in many games, and has been dealt a variety of roles.

I think generalizations and viewing the game in abstract rubs him the wrong way, and that if he has a weakness as a player it is a tendency to miss the forest for the trees. He takes general statements about the game like 'the job of vanilla town is to play as best they can and die" too literally in some ways and not literally enough in others. That statement doesn’t mean that a good vanilla town is just a warm body to have killed off instead of a power, as he seems to be interpreting it now. And he’s definitely not playing as best he can. Even though he was correct in his read on me as scum, it was entirely too easy to contribute to his being marginalized and disregarded by the rest of the Town. My alignment had no bearing on the things that I was saying to him in observation of his play, as I’m confident that I would have said much of the same things to him if I’d been Town, but my alignment had everything to do with my decision to engage in that conversation in the manner that I did and push as hard as I did because my perfect knowledge allowed me the luxury of knowing how wrong he was to just dismiss the investigation results on Stan.

I’ve gone round and round (and round) with him about the more abstract concepts of the game many times, even trying to use his favored method of communication, metaphor, similie, and analogy. But our moments of mutual understanding are pretty few and far between.

viewing the game in abstract rubs him the wrong way,

The concept of abstracting took the entire career path of computer programming off the table for me. I could not, for the life of me, do it. Period.

Sitting in class, and getting to a point where your brain shuts down, is not good.

I could self-analyze here, suffice to say I think I’ve made a lifetime out of grinding on certainty, that I don’t dare take a chance to risk anything, ever. That is, I don’t let go of what I know, I don’t back up to re-evaluate, that wastes grinding time, don’t you know.

f he has a weakness as a player it is a tendency to miss the forest for the trees.

Fairly certain ADHD presents with forest missing.

The fundamental problem I have, as I see it, is that this game can’t remember to tell ITSELF that its a non-perfect set up.

Cookies, your alignment aside, you concede that simply having “X is Town” posted on the barn is WORTHLESS, right ?

I have a feeling that Meeko is going to need a hug or two from me come post-game. All intentions of constructive criticism of his play aside, I do legitimately like the guy personally.
I had a tinge of this, Cookies. But, Apparently, I’m right, for wrong reasons

That is to say, I think I knew you more than not liked me, in your criticism / roast.

I almost feel bad for sniffing you out so quick. It really was just a lucky guess on my part (though I’d like to think it was a slightly educated one).

Thanks for the game, story…and congrats again on the new addition!

Was there anyway vanilla town could have made REAL use of the barn?

If not, was there a game balance reason to put this in? Was it even considered?

I would have made use of it by posting something that only I would write on round one, to breadcrumb the fact that I have already used up my one barn posting, therefore could not be responsible for any misdirection postings on the barn.

It would help with process of elimination regarding who actually posted on the barn, since it is almost a given that a guilty party will have done so.

If a bunch of vanilla townies did it, it would have helped establish that those townies could not have been responsible, cutting the pool of suspects for any future postings.

My original barn message was going to be tons of fun.

It never got posted, and I asked that in lieu of that I change it.

A pristine Rock City Ad, in hindsight, was the best thing a vanilla townie could do.

There.

Regardless of any effect it might have had on the game, Meeko, your barn posting was certainly fun.

that worked out- I was a tad concerned
see earlier mod question

and really- what would you have done if I chose wrong?
with babale AWOL

** Meeko ** you almost shot yourself in the foot- :smack: I am pleased I was correct

If I’d been vanilla I would have perhaps used the barn to make an anonymous “I think X may be scum/pfk” poke at someone I suspected, to see how they or others would react to it. Or perhaps hang onto it just in case I ended up as the recipient of some sort of note from the Mod that I had been the recipient of some nudge or action, for which there are precedents of vanilla roles receiving in other games. Of if I’d survived to the endgame with the doctor as you did, I would have tried to pour some three-handed wine like “Whatever you do, Meeko will be protected” or taunting maybe.

First off, thanks, storyteller!

Great job in the end, Meeko, Lightfoot!

And I think Pizza’s on to something: his idea might be a way to limit spurious messages by scummy folk, at least. Still, scum could post harmless stuff as well, coded to each of them and point at their posts as “proof” of their roles.

I enjoyed having the chance to use it during this game with no prior knowledge by anyone.

I’m curious how I was the one to almost shoot myself in the foot, Lightfoot.

I knew Fubbs was scum before you did.
