[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

I doubt it, Story, though you may as well ask. If there’s anything Pizza hates it’s a mechanical solution to a mafia game (what Gadarene finds difficult to deal with is what Pizza finds to be the way things should be), and I don’t see very much more mechanical than going through votes the way you suggest.

@ Astral – I don’t think that (all) scum or PFKs necessarily flip that way, Weedy notwithstanding. It would go some way toward balancing a town resurrecter if they don’t, if it was possible that once or twice they could resurrect someone who appeared to be town and get it wrong.

For the record: I’m staying neutral/good. I really wanna see what the Beastmaster role can do.

Eat people who annoy you?

Yeah… I guess. I think I’m just really frustrated. I spent the Night reading everything, and I feel like I know nothing more than when I started. I keep looking for some kind of angle and none is to be found. I guess that’s by design, based on what you’ve been saying about pizza and his games, but… frustrating.

I must have played a dozen or more games like this one or worse by now, so … eh. You get used to it. Go after the scummy, Story. That doesn’t change much.

OK, so Lightfoot got the sapphire ring and choie the emerald ring on day two. Either of you know what your item does?

Three people voted for Weedy that day: gnarly, Gadarene and Skeezix.

Was Weedy ever in significant danger of being lynched?

vote: Lightfoot pending an explanation of her attack on choie yesterday.

I’m not sure whether or not this warrants any other votes (unless they’re placed for other reasons), but I really want an answer.

But it does. The way I play is usually this: Look at what’s happened. Did a Townie get lynched on Day 1? OK - how? Who voted for her? In what order? What reasons did they give? It’s Day 4 now (hypothetically), do we know the alignments of any of the people voting for her? Was there an alternate wagon? What do we know about that wagon, about the players on it, and about its subject?

But right now, here in this game, I don’t actually know anything. I don’t know whether anyone who’s died was actually Town or Scum or something else - I have guesses and suppositions, but no knowledge. Without a solid base of gradually expanding certainty to build on, it’s… geh. Well. I’ll figure it out eventually. But don’t be surprised if I grasp at straws once in a while as I do.

Kindasorta? She was in my group of five or six people who should be considered for the lynch, back when I was flipping out over the cruddy vote count, so she’d have had two votes then I think. This was about 48 hours before the end of the day, though. I’m not sure which of the three unvoted her (wasn’t Skeezix, he voted her after unvoting PetW) to give her a total of two instead of three, but I dont’ think she ever picked up a vote after the wagon on you got rolling.

Well yeah. But I’m still right.

Well, there’s better than average odds of a scum being there then, in my opinion. Can’t all pile on me, when they know I’ll flip not-scum. A throw-away on someone with some suspicion is a nice hiding place, and bonus if it’s one of your buddies for possible later cred.

When I get home, I’m gonna look and see if Weedy ever mentions those three, and how they talk about her. I think that might prove fruitful.

If I had to give an off-the-cuff guess, I’d say gnarlycharlie. He’s pinged me for other reasons, as I noted in my post-resurrection double post book of epic proportions.

I think you misread me – I think (though I’m not positive) that all three votes on Weedy were placed prior to your wagon going anywhere. So it would be at least semi-serious bussing you’d be looking for, not a throwaway.

I guess they wouldn’t all switch to me, but I did kind of misread you. Hmmph. This might be less fruitful than I thought.

Screw it, let’s lynch MHaye.

Heh.

The rule is that a player who does not participate on any three Days will be dealt with by Wrath of Demon. Storyteller is still at risk (although he looks like he’s participating Today).

**Oh great PG.

Would you be amenable to letting a player “earn off” a Day they missed by continuous participation in later Days?

I might suggest allowing a player with one Day marked against them to buy a remission by two Days participation, and someone with two Days to buy one Day off with three Days continuous participation.

I feel it might give them some hope of getting away from the knife-edge.

Also, if someone is modkilled, do we get any reveal?**

What’s your definition of an attack. I have not attacked anyone.
Well except with words and votes, mayhaps

Crazy goings on here. I’m kinda surprised that Weedy has flipped… well, not scum, I guess we still don’t know that, but very evil. Doesn’t really match her behavior if you ask me. Still, all in all I’m glad to be rid of an very evil player; I can’t imagine her intentions were pro-Town with such an alignment. Unless said town happens to be EvilTown in the country of Villainia.

Unfortunately no. I had an opportunity to either discern it last Night or perform a certain action. I decided the other action was more important for Town overall.

Moving ahead a bit, Normal, where did Lightfoot claim to be the one who attacked me? What’d I miss?

I am very interested in hearing from Guiri again. What can he tell us about the Other Side, having looked into Death’s gaping maw? OTOH, Astral told us bupkis so presumably Guiri had the same experience. Also we don’t know if he’s a zombie, but since the color matches the color for Astral (i.e. white light) I assume he’s not.

Considering the perceived lack of balance, what with getting (presumed) Townies back and only one dead Evil person (whom we may or may not presume to be Scum), I’m somewhat wary of the undeads, even if they are Good. Wasn’t there a TV show or Stephen King novel where some good person was brought back to life but someone evil… or something evil… hitched a ride? Could Astral and Guiri be unknowing carriers of some kind of bomb (or whatever the D&D / Mafia version would be)?
