[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Go back and read my goodbye again. You’re reading into it things that aren’t there.

Oh, by the way: diffuse attacks on random people is exactly what appears to have happened on Day One.

We can just, y’know, PLAY MAFIA in the meantime, while using our attacks to chip away at what the color suggests is one of our primary antagonists. Basically, treat your ability to attack during the day as a sidebar to our main goal of hunting scum. That way we can do both things at once.

If I know anything about Pizza’s color, I would be very surprised if working together to defeat Lord Phere would not have good benefits for Town.

<3

did i miss your claim or did you say you weren’t a soldier?

I said I’m non-vanilla, and I said that the scum would do well to kill me sooner rather than later.

Both of which are true. Let’s not give them help in doing it.

As I said, I’m a Soldier and I have an Element.

Gadarene I think you are really reaching with some of your self-defense, like increasingly so. It’s not helpping.

Cool. You think it’s totally fine and not at all odd for PetW to advocate that everyone attack me toMorrow? Am I supposed to not respond to that at all?

And what parts, exactly, do you think are reaching? My self-defense is as follows:

(1) The case on me yesterday was flimsy.
(2) The case on me yesterday was predicated at least in large part on me not being around to defend myself (lilflower in particular made this point when voting me).
(3) I’m here now.
(4) My tone has not been scummish – or, if it has, nobody has bothered to point it out or make a case on it that I can rebut.
(5) There are data points towards my townieness, however little weight you want to put on them, including my dead post at end of Day and my willingness to share role information with you.
(6) I am a claimed non-vanilla.
(7) I have been active and trying to solve the game.

What part of all of that makes me a good target for everyone to attack tomorrow? Again: PetW is advocating that everyone shoot me for no good reason that I can see. Can I not respond to that?

I think I may have been clearing Normal too lightly. She is giving me not the slightest bit of credit for anything, and she hasn’t responded to my PM in any sort of particularly good faith way other than acknowledging the receipt of the information.

You can respond to the PetW thing all you want; it’s not what I’m referring to. I’m talking more about the bizarre insistence that it’s at all likely you were saved from the lynch by a townie. It’s just plain not.

Put yourself in my shoes.

Pretend you know with 100 percent certainty that I am a Townie.

What, to you, are the most likely explanations for the three extra Mosier votes in that instance?

Are you saying that “a Townie saved me” for one or more of the reasons I explicated yesterday is not at ALL a possibility?

I mean, I went through and analyzed it in some detail. You can’t just refer to my “bizarre insistence” (which, by the way, is not an accurate characterization of my speculation) without actually, y’know, RESPONDING TO THE POINTS THAT I MADE.

So maybe give that a shot instead of just tarring me blindly?

I’ve discussed that already. If you’re a townie, I think the only explanation is some kind of a frame job, either with Astral as ACTUAL scum into the bargain, or with Astral as a townie as well.* And if Astral is also a townie, I’d think either the traitor player is a total nutjob or the traitor role is hugely, immensely powerful such that using the votes that way would not be unreasonable. And I do have issues with the idea that such votes could be placed by a non-town actor every single day, that Pizza would set things up like that.

It’s possible I might be wrong in any of my assumptions, and that that will become more clear as time passes. I’m marginally and waveringly willing for both you and Astral to remain unmolested for a day or so until some of these things might become more clear. But that’s why I can’t trust either of you further than I could throw a schoolbus.

*As an aside, people have brought up Visorslash as potential beneficiary, but I don’t think that holds. By the time Mosier became a reasonable alternative lynch, Visorslash no longer was in any real danger himself. I think. Somebody correct me if I’m remembering wrong.

Knowing Pizza, anything is possible

More specifically, looking at the color, it’s possible there’s only one ‘Scum’, but if that’s the case there are almost certainly a number of different ‘non-Town’ factions, all of whom would likely be considered “threats to Town” from a wincon perspective…and all of whom would likely have their own different wincons.

(And as an aside, what did you expect me to say about your role in public? HE’S NOT VANILLA SOLDIER EVERYBODY, BACK OFF! (EXCEPT YOU SCUM, YOU CAN KILL HIM.) ?)

I’m just curious.

I’m not sure what to think about roles/claimed roles in general except that, this being a Pizza game, I am dead certain positive that he will have given the scum some way to protect themselves from role claims. To what extent they can truly act as the roles they claim and to what extent they have to hedge, I don’t know.

**
OK…so to be more specific, when you tell us, for example:

does that *necessarily *mean “someone attacked Inner Stickler, but Guiri protected him, and as a result took 50 HP damage”?
**

I’m almost positive that’s the case, based on a couple questions I asked by PM.

I expected you to (a) modulate your tone with me (i.e., stop being so darn mistrustful), since I showed a good faith effort to share information with you; and (b) continue the PM correspondence by making a good faith effort of your own to respond in kind. You have done neither.

You don’t need to take my PM at face value. You can, however, evaluate its credibility. You’re smart. You can make probabilistic determinations and take them into account when posting. You have not done so that I can see.

Are you confirming that

a) you have a protective ability, and
b) that it functions by redirecting 50% of the incoming damage from your target to yourself?
