I was just responding to what someone else said. That’s ridiculous and I did not say anything close to “this game cannot be figured out”.
A terrible and totally made up case.

So is Day 1 then a crapshoot or not?
Not literally, but it is mainly luck. You do your best, but I’m almost never sure on D1. You do remember we went over all this back when I used to make a random.org list and vote the top name?
I backed out of all that long ago and began voting normal on Day 1.
I think you are punishing me for just making the connection between someone else using the phrase “crapshoot”, which is what I caught all that flack for over on giraffe.
I wish I hadn’t commented at all, now. Yeesh.
Not a made up case at all. From past experience, Mahaloth, you tend to be much more aggressive as Town and much more passive as Scum. Saying Day 1 is a crapshoot is passive.
If Day 1 cases are all a matter of luck, what is a good case? What is a bad one?
You wish you hadn’t commented instead of fighting back at me. This is what I mean by passive. It is as if you already know I am Town.
Which would explain why he hasn’t posted. Harrumph.
Oh, Prof P? Why d’ya include Pleonast in your list of posters?

That looks like a straight cut and paste job. Pleo mentioned something during signup, but didn’t actually sign up.
Which explains Dead Cat also, I think.
Heh, no worries whatsoever. I thought it was clever, but I accept your apology in the spirit it was given.
As scum desperately trying to cover his tracks, having realized how badly he’s flailing.

what? and I"M a goody-goody?
Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
(I will point out that my apology was on a sidebar — but all those TV shows tell me that the jury can’t be relied upon to ignore the “stricken from the record” comment, and I knew that, so…)
I’m a bit wary of biotop’s meta case. But I’m curious to see how it pans out.
To expand on my point, I think later in the game biotop has a point. But not on D1. Or even D2 or 3.
I stayed home sick today. But when I feel a bit better I’ll talk about my butter/beer zone theory on post counts.
Was there actually a butter/beer zone theory, or is this a joke I didn’t get? (Or possibly both, I guess.)
Oh yeah. I forgot I said that. I was a bit out of it earlier.
The butterzone theory…renamed beerzone by hookerchemical because we all like beer better than butter.
Anyway, it relates to lynch the lurker, which has proven to not be any better than chance.
Instead I’ve posited that from the d1, and maaaaybe d2, post counts, there is a higher than average chance of hitting scum in the bottom half through to a third or so players in that list. So for 10 players, the beerzone would be 6, 7, 8 lowest posters in that list. There is a lot of truthiness to it, but I have yet to be motivated enough to ever run the numbers from a large number of games. And weird games with weird powers/mechanics throw that off. As does super low participation all around such that there are a lot of ties in the lower regions of the post count
Without knowing the true effectiveness of this theory, I only really look at the beerzone as like a near last resort to resolve who I should vote for.

No, I wish I hadn’t said anything 'cause it made you jump like a maniac. I don’t know if you are scum, but what you did is closer to “dumb vote” than scummy, at least to me.
I’m not going to twist it into scum motivation, but the scummier aspect would be that you jumped so quick on my quick statement, it discourages people from speaking. Why comment on anything from any game if you are going to go “meta” on us and vote us. Not fun.

Fear of getting votes is Scummy. Not posting for fear of votes is the whole case behind “lynch the lurker.” It’s not as if any of us have powers to protect. If we mislynch on Day 1, we then can try and see what happened, how it happened. I am not scared of votes. Why should you be? If I get mislynched then it is up to the remaining Town to figure out what happened. Getting mislynched is the fault of those who vote poorly, not the victim. If you are Town and my vote gets you mislynched then I and others will try and figure out why. If my case gets me mislynched then the test of Town has to figure out why. And if, as you say, my case is “terrible” why should it bother you or discourage you from posting?
…test of Town… = …rest of Town…
