Mafia: Goontown [Game Over]

Okay, the “hello, fellow humans” tone of this post is ringing all sorts of alarms for me.

Yeah, I didn’t read that against you. My case is based strictly on your early plot-stirring and post-padding. I’d switch my vote, but since snfaulkner still has the highest vote count two votes won’t do it; we would need a third lyncher to make it happen.

Stranger

To be clear, if I can get one more person to switch their vote to snfaulkner (along with Sunny Daze) I’ll switch as well as there will be three votes; otherwise it is pointless because snfaulkner has ramped his post count up high enough that no one can readily catch up (at least, without obnoxious post padding that I’m unwilling to engage in).

I may return there but…

Vote Hi Neighbor!

You signed up to this game. Please vote.

You are disturbing my calm!

Stranger

Hi Neighbor does seem to be enjoying his power as the lone holdout too much.

I’m participating, aren’t I?

But as you wish.

Re: Omgus

Were the initial roles assigned randomly or by hand?

I only ask because it wouldn’t make much sense to assign a Mafia role to a noob (especially if there are only two of them), as they’d most likely indict themselves early, thus causing the game to end rather quickly.

But there is a junior and senior scum, and because they can palaver in secret the senior can guide the junior.

Also, the OMGUS votes are counterproductive unless you think you’ve being voted by actual scum or by a townie who is going postal and is more of a danger to the town than actual scum.

Stranger

The integrity of the game requires random seeding. Unless I’m told otherwise (and we won’t be told otherwise, I’m sure), everyone has an even chance to be scum.

Unrelated data point: in my first ever game of Mafia, I wasn’t only Scum but I was the leader of the scum faction.

Okay, this is a real charlie foxtrot. Two of us have two votes (Stranger On A Train and Hi, Neighbor!), and five with one vote each (Biotop, Prof. Pepperwinkle, Johnny Bravo, Sunny Daze, and Mahaloth). I’m assuming someone is going to drop their vote on Hi, Neighbor! now that he has participated, which will leave me as the only player with two votes. I’m fine with being killed to benefit the town if it exposes snfaulkner (likely scum) or Mahaloth (maybe, tending toward scummy), but at this rate it isn’t going to provide any useful information, nor can I pick anyone I suspect with the expectation that they’ll actually get voted out; if I vote Prof. Pepperwinkle, who I have about a 30% confidence in being scum, he just countervotes and puts me over the top with three.

I think that lynching Faulkner will tell us a lot. And it has a decent chance of happening if I

I’m still screwed (assuming Biotop or Knowed Out drops their vote for Hi, Neighbor!) but at least this is progress of some kind.

I’m taking Madame P. shopping, and don’t know if I’ll be back by the EoD, but this is one of the most up-in-the-air End-of-Days that I’ve ever seen.

Is there really power in that? Is there something wrong with wanting to get as much information as possible before voting? I think it’s odd to rush to votes just for the sake of voting. I definitely wasn’t holding back my vote as a “power move.”

Honest answer: I’m still trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

I was planning on voting today well before the day ended at 4:00 pm. I know it would have been a bad move to wait until the last minute to cast my first vote. But I didn’t realize not voting with 8 hours to go would raise so many red flags. I suppose 8 hours is a pretty brief amount of time though in Mafia terms.

Are you going to stick with your Johnny Bravo vote? 'Cause the way it looks now there is little likelihood that he is going to get lynched, and it doesn’t tell us anything except that you don’t want to stand out.

The problem is by not voting or discussing you are not influencing anyone else’s voting, and we end up with this kind of mess of a bunch of people having a single vote. Throwing out a vote, even if it is random, gives you feedback, where just hanging back and watching other people vote makes you look like you have something to hide.

<bright light>Do you have something to hide? Do you? Where is the yellowcake?</bright light>

Remember, the vote is 4:00 pm EDT. Don’t miss it because of a time zone shift.

Reminds me of a certain Minutemen album: 3-Way Tie (For Last) - Wikipedia
We should see a third vote for Faulkner or Stranger, I hope. Neighbor is not going to tell us much unless they’re scum.

I just think it’s fun to target somebody and watch them squirm and wriggle like a worm trying to avoid the hook.

Now that was scummy. You weren’t on my list before, but now…?
