That is the only thing we could pull, but I find that to be not all that likely… I mean, I have zero read on Johnny Bravo, but sometimes the scum just kill whoever. I think Prof. P was talkative and that alone may have been how the choice was made.
Maybe the Prof’s cover was blown and he faked his own death.
Huh, I thought there would be a little more activity by now, but I went and tallied both votes, so here they are.
Mahaloth: 2 (Biotop 421, Hi, Neighbor 432)
Chronos said that this game is more or less a coinflip with equal player skill. The only mechanic that has the potential to tilt things in one side’s favor is the tie rule. It behooves scum to get rid of talkative players.
What did we do? We lynched the most talkative* player for them. Scum then killed the second-most talkative player.
I’m going by overall post counts per #419. Not bothering to do any subtraction here.
So I’ll post an updated vote summary for day one. The summary I already posted is under the spoiler tag. I colored vote summaries purple. (There weren’t many at the end, and most were done by players, including me, so I don’t necessarily trust 'em. (Just because there was a lot of activity going on.)
Let me know if you see mistakes – it’s worth checking my work.

One scenario that comes to mind looking over Day 1:
**** Biotop and Neighbor are scum.
My vote summary just now had an error (sorry, I did it by hand): post 304 is Biotop unvoting Mahaloth and voting Neighbor, not Stranger.
**
**
I can see a dynamic in the posts below of scum collusion. Biotop’s last-minute change was risky if they’re a scum team, but Biotop’s votes for Neighbor came at strategic times, as I look over the voting summary.
**
**
Biotop votes Neighbor right off the bat, post 89.
Unvotes post 120.
Establishes conflict early in the day, when people are fishing for info.
**
**
Biotop votes Mahaloth post 180, sits on it a long while.
**
**
Biotop switches to neighbor post 304, starting what will turn into a bus. Not a great move for a scum-mate, but could be misdirection.
**
**
Biotop saves neighbor with the final vote of the day, post 368.
**
**
**I’m going to keep looking at other players in various combos. But I would welcome feedback
**
**
**
This is just a quick read.
EDIT: Both, but Biotop especially, made some very town-friendly posts. But scum will do that. I’m inclined to look for Leo Straussian misdirection when dealing with experienced players, especially when they are playing against players against whom they can use past games as scum-finding. (In Biotop’s case, that’s versus Mahaloth.)
I forgot to note that part of this post is false (deliberately or accidentally): Neighbor had a vote from Biotop early on in the game. Might have been forgotten.
Neighbor’s self-categorization as a noob might be coloring my past readings. The dynamic of a scumpair that’s newbie and oldie seems very natural – but roles were assigned randomly.
I think in a game where people have plenty of time to do research and plenty of time to make up lies … maybe we shouldn’t take experience into account too much.
Reposting my vote summary with correction to Biotop’s vote on post 304
Chronos posted D1 post counts – I quote them above. Snfaulkner was the second-most-prolific according to that post. Not the Professor.
I see the reasoning that scum would want to get rid of high-post-outliers that are town – so that scum can more easily manipulate close votes. Good point, Bravo.
While I feel shitty about doing it, given what they’ve gone through with their dog, I’m going to
vote snfaulkner
based on what I’ve reviewed so far.
We’re now at a 6 town to 2 scum stage, and if we choose wrong we’ll be 4 town to 2 scum, which is endgame. It would be nice to be sure we choose correctly today. So please scum-hunt aggressively, with cites.
My vote for faulkner is gut based on a quick re-read – to provide an example of what I’m looking for from others.
I don’t think Knowed Out-style humor is helpful at this point. (It was totally appropriate early in D1.)
With no feedback on my reads so far, I’m gonna
unvote snfaulkner
vote knowed
Knowed got confident and obnoxious late in the first day. They may have figured out that the Prof’s stated “no noobs D1” policy allowed them to break radio silence and play aggressively and obnoxiously. Which is not bad play for scum if you know you have a safe no-vote from one townie. (Did others state a “no noobs D1” policy, besides Prof?)
And if, per post 448, you haven’t been voted for yet. (Right?)
Talk me out of this vote. I feel more solid about it than my vote for snfaulkner.
I was busy all day and expected to find more conversation when I returned. This game is so silent, I’m almost up for just lynching the lurker.
Having said that, I’m going to vote for Hi Neighbor because of the way he fabricated his vote on me. I guess any vote on someone who voted you like this will be seen as OMGUS, but I definitely think Biotop is Town because he is at least making a case on me. Hi Neighbor is just a lot more scummy than anyone else I’ve seen because of the way he reverse-engineered his justification for me. He clearly decided to vote me and went back to scramble a way to justify it. Very scummy to me.
Vote Hi, Neighbor!
I made a full vote count because it’s easier for me to find patterns this way. No promises about when I’ll get around to actually looking for those patterns. Monday is a dirty way to start the week. Also no promises as to accuracy. It’s a lot of work making one of these.

Could you please point to the post(s) where Neighbor did this?
(In a silent game, it falls on us all to speak up.)
He voted not long after Biotop and to me, it reeks of deciding to vote me and then digging back in to find a reason. It’s my impression of his vote on me. Not that he genuinely felt it, but that he wanted to add a second vote to me and climbed back in to reverse-engineer a real reason.
Oh, and I think I said all of that even before I voted.
Sorry for not knowing which vote you were talking about without a quote or cite.
Also — I don’t find your argument very compelling, as stated so far.
Nah, it’s cool. If you don’t see it, you don’t see it.
Thanks for this, JB. I’m usually the one who has to do it. But the vote count robot on giraffe makes it way easier.
There’s no one-off voters, so that’s a dead end.
Usually a vig or a cop would deal with a runner up, but lacking those, does that mean we should pick up the slack? Perhaps. Though maybe not for that reason alone. However, mahaloth make a good case (to me, anyway) that Hi neighbor was looking for a reason to vote mahaloth. So for now,
vote Hi, Neighbor
Oog, thanks all about my poor pup. And I’m forcing myself to play despite being distracted. My participation should be higher sa time goes on.
