Aaargh! I’m sorry for the delay, and my general lurkiness during this game. I thought I’d have enough time, but I misunderestimated my workload.
I’m inclined to Vote Darth Sensitive because I still have the same suspicions of him that I had yesterday. Upon reading the recent posts I’m torn between trying to confirm one of the school chums Chronos and Scuba, or trying to investigate someone else.
If there’s only 2 scum, then this faux-mason ploy is a pretty good one. If there are no real masons, there’s no one to counter our masquerading scum. That alone makes me want to investigate Chronos or Scuba badly.
On the other hand, since they’ve claimed mason-status, they’ve marked themselves for further scrutiny by all (note the arrest warrant on Chronos), and my investigative efforts might be better spent on confirming another crew member.
There’s 8 players. I’ve been confirmed as loyal, so 7 players to investigate, with 1 to 3 possible scum. That’s approximately a 14% to 43% chance of detecting scum versus 57% to 86% chance of confirming town. Is my power best spent trying looking for scum among the non-masons? Or should I try to confirm the masons? Would that ultimately be a waste, since Chronos also has a warrant out?
Since I’ve been typing awhile, I’m going to post this, and see if Inner Stickler has executed the arrest warrant yet. The jets flying outside my window are really loud and distracting. Someone should tell those pilots that there’s no sound in space.
You haven’t been confirmed, Ichini. You have had testimony put forth by a player who is unconfirmed. And the arrest warrant has been in place since Day 1, prior to the Mason claims.
Not quite, all three of you could be scum. I would have said it’s unlikely, but claims that something is/would be confirmed when it’s not makes me suspicious.
Moot now that Ichini has showed up, but that wouldn’t work. Promotions or demotions don’t take effect until after the lynch.
Ichini, it should be noted that examining me is exactly equivalent to examining Scuba, since we’ve both confirmed each other. If either one of us were to come up guilty, we both would, and likewise if either came up innocent. So you didn’t need to dither about which one of us was better to investigate.
And my philosophy on Detective investigations is that the Detective shouldn’t a priori try specifically to nab a Scum or specifically to confirm a Town, but to investigate the person he or she is least certain about. If you’re already mostly certain about someone’s alignment, then you’ll probably get very little additional information from an investigation.
Oh, and I thought I asked this before, but it looks like I didn’t: Ichini, will you be online during the Night? Since doctors are now allowed to report their results at Night, there’s no problem with the same person being Doctor and Engineer, so I’m inclined to promote you, as long as you’ll be able to do the Engineering watching.
I think I forgot to unvote ColdPhoenix, too, come to think of it. Unvote ColdPhoenix
My vote on Hal stands, though, since he actually used the mason claim itself as a basis of suspicion. Yes, it should be taken with a grain of salt, but Town should always give Mason claims the benefit of the doubt for at least a Day.
Meanwhile, it’s really looking like Inner Stickler isn’t coming back. If he’s Town, we’re pretty much screwed: With him not participating, and if we have two Scum, we need each and every genuine Townie to agree on the lynch or we lose right now, and if there are three Scum and he’s a Townie and not playing, then we’ve already lost and just haven’t found out yet. So our only real hope for winning is if he’s Scum. Ordinarily, he might be a good candidate for the Brig, except with himself as Security, that’s not going to happen. So I think our only hope, faint though it be, is to Vote Inner Stickler
Scuba, if you can’t find a case, then you might consider doing like you did yesterDay, and just vote for everyone except yourself, me, and Ichini. Another Townie abstaining from the vote is pretty much guaranteed to sink us.
Lurking sucks, especially with such close margins of error when we need everyone’s views and potentially key investigation results being denied to us as well.
Coming back to the game after a hectic as hell move in/training week. At least I’m now in my dorm with reliable internet.
So. I’m summarizing my thoughts on the day. **Chronos **(as doc) confirms Ichini. **Chronos **and **Scuba **confirm each other as masons. Then **Ichini **goes to examine scuba. So if we can confirm one of them then they’re all confirmed - but we most likely need to lose one for solid proof, or we can get another doc to confirm, as 4 scum working together would already have a win. It’s a terribly ballsy play for 3 scum to make that play, so I’m inclined to trust them, but I’m stilling keeping a suspicious mind. If we can get somebody who isn’t those three into the doctor spot, I’d be a whole lot more comfortable. It’s probably preferable that someone who’s alignment we know ends up in the engineer spot, which makes the promoting Ichini to engineer, making DarkCookie the future doc slightly preferable to putting Hal there with **Ichini **as the head ensign.
