Mafia: Not-so-simple-Simpletown

No.

The set of players who created the tie is a subset of the set of all living players which is a subset of all players.

Hey all. The interest in this game is not quite up to the level necessary to run the ruleset I had in mind.

Choice #1: Hope more people signup by Friday
Choice #2: Run a different ruleset
Choice #3: Abandon Simpletown

How many are we waiting for?

I was hoping for 20, but could make do with 16.

Let me post a couple of adverts for you sach, see if I can’t help drum up some more interest.

And that is why NAF is the Mayor of Simpletown.

Are the new rules really the issue, they didn’t seem that different from the first Simpleton game.

What were the rules for the first Simpleton game? I understand voting and lynching, and the “team” that wins is the team with the most number of members left at the end (or something), but what are these “roles” and “special powers”?

I’m a noob.

Since you’re having trouble filling out a full roster, I’ll throw my hat in the ring. Crap two games at once and I’m just starting to draw attention in the other one.

sachertorte is keeping secret precisely what roles and powers exist, but typical ones include things like “Detective: Every night you can choose one person to investigate and determine which side that person is on”, or “Doctor: Every night you can choose someone to treat. If the scum targets that person, he or she does not die”. The possible roles are in principle limited only by the game moderator’s imagination, and may include some who are aligned with Town or Scum, or who even form their own faction separate from either.

Cool, thanks.

Also, is there any “etiquette” stuff that I should know about? It appears as though everyone has to pretend to not be scum, but is this strictly the case?

Check it, our group has a wiki

http://wiki.flyingcowofdoom.com/

If the wiki doesn’t answer your questions shoot me a PM and I will try to update the wiki. Or you can update it yourself once you get the answer.

Ask here too obviously, but I want to try to keep the wiki as complete as possible, and I am starting to realize that some of us old timers don’t know what it is that new players don’t know. So if you don’t feel like updating, shoot me a PM.

Thanks NAF, this sounds like a lot of fun. I’d never heard of this game until I saw the other active thread. Can’t wait to give it a try.

Count me in please.

Count me in!

Sorry, you can only get one role per game.

You should play to win. Claiming or admitting to be scum is allowed, but it will almost always hurt your team’s chance of winning. Claiming or admitting a pro-Town special role can be reasonable, but it runs the risk that your teammates might not believe you, and the scum will probably want to make you their next victim, so you should generally only do that when you think that your claim has significant benefit to your side.

Do note that generally, the scum are allowed to talk secretly among themselves (generally at some other password-protected message board that the moderator will give you a link to). So if you’re Town, then just be honest, and if you’re scum, then get advice from your teammates on the secret board how best to act.

I am a newbie, but I have been reading the Werewolf (The Split) thread. I will join if you don’t mind.

Awww, I thought I’d try something different and play on both sides at the same time
