Mafia: Not-so-simple-Simpletown

So, uh…how many people do we need, anyway?

We’ve met the minimum, but a few more would be better.

Really shouldn’t be doing two games at once again but I’m weak - sign me up please

Two games at once is my max, but I will be following with interest. Depending on how the other games go, I might join the sub bench later.

Okay I cave… /in

I’m (unsuccessfully) trying to figure out the Werewolf Testerizer from your game, pedescribe. You are truly an evil genius.

To echo kitten’s (is that an acceptable nickname?) question, what does “uncontested plurality” mean? For example, what would the results of the following vote counts be (assuming 9 players)?

Case I
4 votes for No Lynch
3 votes for Pleonast
2 abstentions

Case II
4 votes for No Lynch
5 abstentions

Case III
4 votes for No Lynch
4 votes for Pleonast
1 abstention

A vote for No Lynch means you are advocating that no one be killed that Day. If enough players agree with you and also vote for No Lynch, no one will die.

Case I: No Lynch, no one dies that Day
Case II: No Lynch, no one dies that Day
Case III: Pleonast Dies

please be choose the most confusing nickname when nominating me for the lynch!

A year has passed since the violence to the simple town of Simpletown threatened to destroy the happy life of the Simpletons. The surviving residents lament the loss of their neighbors, but also rejoice at the quick thinking and keen strategy employed by the residents to rout the town of the evil assassin interlopers. While there remains some debate as to the wisdom of sending one of their own out into the cold harsh world on his own, all seem quite happy with the results. An assassin-free town is a happy town.

Roosh, an Assassin is still dead.
And they all lived happily ever after.

All Role PMs and emails have been attempted.

Dawn: Day One

The sleepy eyes of Simpletown awake to startling news: the body of NAF1138 is found in the town square.

NAF1138, the Town Mayor, is dead. Again.

The citizenry of Simpletons resolves to avenge their noble Mayor (again) and purge the town of this nefarious threat by lynching the guilty party (again).

Day begins now.
Day One will end on Thursday, 19 March 2009 at 4:00PM EDT.
A plurality of votes is necessary to lynch.

20 players are alive:

The game will operate on a weekly schedule. Days will start at some semi-arbitrary point during the weekend; ideally Saturday Afternoon (4PM ET), but no later than Sunday Morning. Days will end at precisely on Thursdays at 4:00 PM ET by the SDMB clock. Board outages will not change the end of Day; plan carefully. All votes must have a time stamp of Thursday, 3:59 PM ET or earlier. Posts and votes with time stamps Thursday, 4:00PM ET or later will be ignored.

Night instructions are due via SDMB PM by Saturday 4:00PM ET by SDMB clock.
Failure to meet the deadline will result in no action.

Vote LikeThis
Votes must be in bold blue, on a single line, by itself. Please don’t play hide the vote from the moderator. Everyone will be happier with accurate vote counts. (For strict interpretation, any vote in blue will be considered an intended vote. Bold, single line, by itself is a moderator request, not a requirement)

Unvote LikeThis
Unvotes are to be made in bold red, on a single line, by itself.

Messages to the moderator should be sent by PM in bold green, on a single line.
The moderator encourages questions to the moderator to be sent via PM.

Lynches will be by plurality. The leading vote-getter at 4:00PM ET on Thursday will die.
Ties are bad. Don’t do them.
Ties will be resolved by random lynch. The lynched player will belong to the set of voters who created the tie.
Ties are bad. Don’t do them.

A No Lynch will occur if an uncontested plurality of votes accumulates for No Lynch. A tie with No Lynch will result in someone getting lynched as if the No Lynch votes didn’t exist at all.

Substitutions/Removal:
I will allow substitutions up through the Dawn of Day Three. Removal from the game for infractions and/or lack of presence is at the Moderator’s discrestion. Removals will occur at Dusk.

Prodding:
The moderator will not prod anyone. Failure to participate may result in substitution/removal.

Win Condition:
Individual win conditions will not change during the course of the game. Your team wins when all threats to your team are neutralized.

Closed Setup:
An inventory of roles will not be published.
The standard Town role PM will be public information.

Stuff you should already know:

  • Game related communication outside the game thread is forbidden, except for scum who may communicate at Night and only at Night.
  • Be nice.
  • Only living players may post game relevant discussion to the game thread.
  • No editing.

Vanilla Town PM:

You win with the Town.
Town wins when all anti-Town elements are dead.
