Confirming my Role!
Confirming my role!
Uh, which roles exactly are you confirming?
I’ll confirm my PM.
Well, there doesn’t seem to be any gimmicks to start off the discussion, so I’ll start off with a vote.
vote Oredigger77
for confirming first, on the principle that Scum are eager to start play, vanilla Townies are indifferent, and power roles are cautious.
Confirming my role.
I hear dead people!
Naw it couldn’t be that I was checking to see who died in my other game?
But it’s a good enough reason for me, unfortunately its night so your vote doesn’t count. Some one pass the booze I’m drinking in both games at once.
Confirming my role - um I mean pm - oh crap!
I’ve got my eye on you!
Nope - it counts. Feel honoured to be the first vote of the game.
anyone got a idea what roles we are playing with?
so if nobody else votes now, that means Oredgger77 gets it
and if oredigger77 retaliates by voting for pleonast they tie(which is bad) and one them gets lynched?
Oh and should we vote a new mayor?
one with tie breaking powers?
No clue. Would one of the experienced players care to chime in with some speculation as to what is going on.
I’ll have a poppy-seed roll, thanks.
I didn’t follow the original Simpletown, so I don’t know what was used there. Here’s my guesses for a generic Mafia game.
With 20 players, I’d expect about 5 Scum, with one of them investigating as Town.
We probably have one investigator (who can accurately determine the alignment of one player each Night) and a protector (who can prevent someone from being Night-killed). These roles sometimes are split among a couple players, through either a backup mechanism or reduced effectiveness. We may also have a Vigilante (a pro-Town Night-killer) and a Miller (a pro-Town player who investigates as Scum). A Miller player should claim so early, because claiming after you’re under pressure or an investigation is not believable.
Oh, we should also have a few Masons, Townies who know that each other are Townies. They can confirm each other, although we shouldn’t accept their claims until one of them is confirmed via death. (That’s because of some design theory that allows for an exclusive Mason win. Blame Ro0sh.)
So overall, I’ll guess about 4 power roles, plus 3 Masons, leaving about 8 vanilla Townies. With 5 Scum, we get 7 mislynches, which seems like a lot, but we’ll burn through them faster than you think.
Confirming.
As to role speculation, hope for the best and play assuming the worst. This game has been labeled “not so simple” so I’m assuming there will be some twists. Personally I’m wary of role speculation.
Kitten> Do you think it is a good idea to give an unconfirmed player the power to break ties? Would you like to be the new mayor?
Damn, I missed that whole dawn thing. I guess I shouldn’t have started drinking.
So we’ve got an extra long Day, I guess since Days end on Thursday. I think 5 scum is reasonable but I’m missing the 7 mislynches. With 15 town and 5 scum it only takes 5 mislynches along with night kills for town and scum to be equal, where do the extra 2 come from?
Doh! That’d be coming from arithmetic mistake. (20-5)/2 = 7. You are of course correct with 5 mislynches.
Weird…that’s exactly what SoT&B said.
Oh, and confirmating.
