Mafia: Not-so-simple-Simpletown

Then it MUST be true, right?

Confirming my role.

If I recall correctly, there were 4 Assassains, one detective, one doctor, two masons, and the rest were vanilla.

I hope so, that’s what I was shooting for.

Well, I won’t be confirming my role, but I will say that I have received my PM.

I played in the last Simpleton, sachertorte didn’t give us much to work with in the beginning, and there turned out to be a lot of different roles. We ended up lynching one of our own and losing a rookie doctor on the first night. The next day we lynched an Assassin only from the luck of sachertorte’s coin toss and I was killed that night. Town won, but had that coin toss gone the other way town would have been in deep merde. This is why I think the new lynching rules are in place.

I have a feeling the reason sachertorte was so insistant on so many players is that there are lots of new roles.

For the love of god, if there is a Doctor out there (and I think there is) please protect yourself the first night.

aHA!! I THOUGHT SO!

That sounds about right, the first scum killed was a ‘lead assassin’, I’m still not sure how that role was different from the other scum.

Got my PM as well.

I’m familiar with the other roles from the handful of offline games I’ve played, and I know what masons are, but I’ve no idea how that would work. Could you elaborate?

I think it would help get things moving if everyone shared how much experience they have with Mafia.

Me: 1 game, 2 days

This is my first game.

My experience: 1 game, 3 days. Barely starting another (in Day one) and now this one.

Hi, I’m Seeker and I’m a Mafia addict.

first online game for me, I have played the off line game

I’ve just played in The Split (4 days), which was my first online game.
Took part in a couple of meatspace ones as well.

Basically, the masons would win with the town, but they could also win exclusively if they outnumbered the town after all the non-towns were dead.
Exp:
I’ve played 6, and am in the middle of 1.
I’ve modded 2, and am in the middle of modding 2.

Played a ton. This one has a fond memory for me. Simpletown was my first game and gosh did I stink. Frankly, I haven’t gotten much better over the course of the rest of the games that I have played in.

While Masons can “confirm” each other, we need to confirm them as a group, that they’re actually on the Town’s side. It’s possible the Masons have different victory conditions, especially one that leads to only the Masons winning, not any Town (that’s what I mean by an exclusive win condition).

We confirm the group of Masons by killing one. Typically, the Scum will do us that favor, but we may be forced to do it our self near end game if no Masons have died by that point. A dead player’s true alignment is revealed upon death. If a Mason is labeled “pro-Town Mason” (or some equivalent) by the moderator, then we can trust all of them. If a dead Mason does not have the “pro-Town” label then we’ll have to lynch them all, since our victory condition is “all anti-Town elements are dead”.

(If the moderator is a gastard and gives us false or misleading alignment information, we were screwed from the beginning, unless there is some other mechanism for us to determine actual alignments.)

I’m an experienced player. I’ve played 12 games, but won only 7, so don’t pin your hopes on me. I’ve moderated 3.

I woke up Today and also got a message and looks like we got a long Day ahead of us. With scum not able to talk during the Day, we got a good start :).

I see there where also 16 players then, so that probably means one more assassin as well, like Pleonast said. The guide rule is 1/4 players scum (I’ve also seen square root which is 4.47 for 20). Did scum have any special powers in that game? Past results are no guarantee for the future of course, especially since things are not so simple nowadays.

As for my experience:
-Evil Dead, scum killed Night Eight, won as vanilla Town.
-Super! Smash! Bros! Mafia!, died Day Five (my SCUM lover got lynched), game not yet finished (go town Smashers!).

PM received.

This is my second game, so I’m still relatively new.

In other words, you know how to calculate the number of mislynches.

That isn’t an arithmetic mistake, it is the wrong formula.

I don’t think you were giving an honest assessment here. You fudged a number somewhere and forgot to fudge it consistantly.
