I did believe it but I’ve changed my position on it. I believed it because I have seen “benign” 3rd parties align with scum in voting when it makes it easier for them to survive.

The math has been explained to me several times now and I realize it is not valid in this game because the third parties (assuming they are truly non-win stealing) are more detrimental to scum than town.
