The sad thing is, I totally know how to fix it at this point. It would be way better the second time around.
So run it again in a couple-three months. You’ll still get enough interest, I’m sure. A lot of us are Mafia addicts.
I am up for co-modding it again with NAF and story. I think a second go at a game this big would fix many issues. I’ve never planned a game this large and I actually think that it has gone really well, though perhaps I am just a crazy person.
Oh, no, it’s not you it’s me. Reorg at work plus my kindergartener being super extra six years old (and a daddy’s girl) meant I unexpectedly had a few hours total per WEEK to devote, and that just wasn’t workable with the size of the game.
I’m curious as to what you’d change with round two, tho.
I would change the switch mechanism and how it worked. I would adjust some of the third party stuff too. And I would add in another killing role. I would also account for the fact that having the scum team split is inherently more pro town than anticipated so I would probably add one scum player to each team.
And then there was one. Looks like Town is going to wrap this up unless something weird happens.
It’s not quite as bad as all that. Well, it is for the wolves. But not for scum in general.
Ok ok, go ahead and spoiler me, please.
People will be up for a game again in a few months, sure. But there’s no way that people will be up for a game this big again in a few months.
I do feel like a few more scum would have helped make it feel a little more balanced, but that’s always going to be really weird in a multi-team game.
As it is (assuming there aren’t any more third parties hiding in the unconfirmed pile), 20 of 55 players were non-Town to start with, which certainly seems like a tough situation for Town. OTOH, they’ve mislynched 7 out of 11 times and appear to on their way to winning fairly handily, even though they lost several members to modkill, so I guess not.
Yeah, the scum size of 14 would have been too tough if we WEREN’T hunting each other, but really town was playing two semi-separate games of 35+6 vs. 7 which is a lot different prospect than 35+6 vs. 14 straight up.
I think town woulda been dead long ago, or hurting really bad if it weren’t for the cross kills.
Without cross kills mafia would have won.
The town hasn’t lynched any mafia in ten Days and it looks like the mafia might still lose.
While I’m unspoiled, I think Johnny B and Texcat are mafia. I would have voted for one of them next. I also think Scathach is the patsy.
Can I go check out the spoilers thread?
Well, naturally. I mean, I was prioritizing hunting mafia over town power roles once we’d nailed the investigators.
Wolves handed the game to town which was sort of unexpected. Mafia can still win but it will be tight.
You can if you are all done posting theories in this thread. I’ll shoot you a pm
We were unpredictable, like a pack of wild animals! Right? Sure.
Owwwooooo.
Sucks to lose, but at least now I have no special information and can post here freely.
As for my vote analysis system, I have fallen a couple Days behind on the number-crunching and will let you know if I ever catch up.
So, my gut reads:
I always think Biotop is Town. (see Death of Mother Nature for a particularly hilarious example of this blind spot in action).
Hawkeye has been pretty under the radar. Plausibly scum.
I’ve thought Johnny Bravo was Mafia all game, but the last couple days he has been very forcefully advocating what seems to me to be optimal Town strategy. If he’s Maf, he is playing a great game.
Plumpudding: inconsistent participation, no strong read one way or the other.
Raventhief: As I think I said earlier, every other game I’ve seen raventhief in she’s seemed to me to just display this blinding aura of pure towniness (and has always in fact been Town) which I’m not picking up on this game.
Scathach: Way under radar, suspicious tendency to not vote or cast one-offs as above. Plausibly scum.
TexCat: I always think she’s scum, and am usually wrong.
So I guess I would be more or less OK with lynching anyone except Biotop or Bravo from the unconfirmed pool. This probably means that they must be Mafia.
