Why does it seem that the universal wisdom is to lynch the lurkers but that the application is to target the posters. Now obviously if you post a lot there is the chance that you make a statement that is perceived to be scummy by someone. But to a great extent isn’t that just jousting at shadows? At least early in the game when everyone is, more or less, just trying to get a feel for everyone else.
Even if he’s not, it’s becoming aggravating that he refuses to explain himself. Either play or don’t, but don’t get all huffy when you’re expected to answer why you’re advocating a position. Giving me a

Well I went back through his posts Day 1 and frankly I don’t see what you’re posting here - he was in no way a lurker and posted quite a lot, actually (spread pretty evenly throughout the day, too). I’m not convinced he is scum. He posted not a little for a newbie and was sort of all over the place, suspecting one day and trusting another. I don’t see a newbie scum sticking his neck out this far, but here’s the record below. It’s a little messy but hopefully everyone gets the gist of it.

Anyway, to summarize, I read him as scummy at first but I think it’s just newbie play in force. I don’t think pedescribe is worth a vote, but hopefully the summary helps anyone on the fence.
But to a great extent does not your reasoning justify a vote for you.

I did a search for your posts in the thread Sittyboy and I don’t see one where you lay out a case for why Mad is scum. Maybe he is, but, and here is the really important part of what I am saying so pay attention, I don’t really care if you think he is if you don’t back it up.
The closest thing I can see it this post from earlier today.

Here is the thing, I don’t think any of this makes you scummy. In fact I would say more likely the opposite, but just because you probably aren’t scum doesn’t mean you are helping the town right now.
I didn’t say he was a lurker. No, I said he was under the radar. This is totally different from being a lurker. Lurkers are in no way under the radar, becasue everyone notices, without fail, that they are lurking. Under the radar types are middle of the packers who don’t say much to draw attention to themselves, and the fact that you (I think it was you) didn’t know the difference between him and peekercpa, who is far and away the most prolific poster in this game, speaks volumes for his under-the-radarness.
My root canal turned into two. I’m still recovering from it, but I’ll make sure to get a vote in tomorrow morning before Night falls.
I was suspicious of pedescribe yesterday and nothing he’s done has made me any less suspicious. I agree with NAF that he’s been under the radar today and it just seems too cautious to me. As Mind Wanderer has checked in I don’t see any reason to vote for him any longer.

Agreed. Sitnam, like you I suspect that Mad is scum, but you’re not doing yourself or the rest of us any favors with these recent posts.

Having said that I feel it would be a heck of a lot more helpful if you got a vote out with some type of reason earlier rather than waiting until the last minute.

It occurs to me that I have not voted yet today, and that is a bad thing. For the time being, I am going to stick with Mad, as I still find him the most suspicious. However, I am beginning to wonder if his style is just rubbing me the wrong way. A similar thing happened to me in a previous game, where I was convinced, absolutely convinced **Idle Thoughts **was scum. I found him evasive, manipulative, confrontational and a whole host of other scummy characteristics. Turns out, I was totally wrong - we were both Town. shrug So, in light of that, I feel like I need to re-examine Mad’s posts before I make a final decision. But that will take a little time and I need a vote on record, so:

So, I feel like I’m in a bit of a quandary on whom to vote for. Nothing is jumping out at me as superscummy, but I do still feel uneasy about Mad’s reaction to fluiddruid’s suggestion to not vote for someone who might be modkilled anyway. I mean, her reasoning makes sense to me as well, even though it was incorrectly based on the idea that Mad’s post count was low enough for that to happen. I understand that a difference of opinion does not a scumtell make, which is why I initially dismissed the feeling I had on this after he responded on that issue, but his continued responses on the subject continue to make me uneasy, and I’m obviously not the only one who still feels this way, so I’m gonna have to

Well, to be fair, you specifically said “pedescribe, who seems to have low post numbers for the whole game.” Perhaps you meant “seems to” a bit more literally than I understood, but to me this was an accusation of lurkerdom.
Nonetheless, though his play has been more cautious today, I don’t see it as so yesterday. Though, admittedly, this could mean that he was reeled in after having been able to talk to the other scum players.

Well, fluiddruid, the first day ended on thursday.
–Friday I was driving all day.
–Saturday I had an all-day interview.

–Monday had school, and then catching up on the things I missed over the weekend.
–Tuesday school, and sleeping.
–Wedensday school, and meeting with family members.
It’s been a busy week.
You know, if you’re not participating (for whatever valid reasons), it’s probably best not to get snippy when called on it.

Not being a snuggle but I can so get behind this. I mean this is fun but you gals/guys ain’t my whole life. I have more time right now sitting in a hotel room in SF and because you are more entertaining than what’s on TV (at least until the Spurs/Suns game tips off)my diarreha (sp?) will continue. I don’t think that makes me or anyone else scum. Human, maybe.
