I’ll play!
I’m totally not a werewolf.
I’ll play!
I’m totally not a werewolf.
/In please!
I will play.
Also, I joined this website as place to play mafia games, since the last site I was a member of went down. I have played many times and wrote many games as well. Are there any restrictions or requirements to run a game, because I have an idea for a theme for a game, but I don’t want to step on anyones toes.
I don’t think there are any restrictions other than those that apply to the message board in general. For the simple sake of participation, I’d wait until this game closes until you start the next one; all the games seem to suffer when more than one is running at a time. Certainly that’s not a rule or even a guideline
Oh! And:
Five more!
Thats kind of what I figured. Thanks though.
By the way… I am so psyched to be playing mafia again!!
/in!
I miss Mafia, but there is no way I have the time to play. I will try to follow along as storyteller games are generally lots of fun. Good luck, all!
I’m getting excited, I can’t wait to [del] maul some townies [/del] lynch some scum.
I’m in. I may have played mafia once or twice before.
AWESOME. Psyched to have you aboard.
That’s 17 total, which is enough to play. I’ll hold sign-ups open until noon tomorrow, and then I’ll start the game. I’ll post the full rules shortly, but please make sure you turn on your PMs so that you can receive game-related communication.
And I’m pretty psyched to have you tell me this story.
Maybe set up an unspoiled peanut gallery thread for non players to follow along , and dead players to continue drinking, I always like following along afterwards unspoiled .
We always used to have one and can help those interested but not willing to jump in yet to talk about stuff without getting lynched.
I know that is how I got started , and was persuaded / abused by our dear departed Peker to play for real , then jumped into a conspiracy game and was lynched first day .
^^This. The legendary JSexton of Sexton points fame?!?
I will do just that. Boffo suggestion!
:tips hat: Don’t worry, though. I’m not as smart as I am.
I’d like to give it a try if there is still an opening.
I’ll put myself in as alternate for now. I’m going to be at GenCon at the end of the month meaning I’ll miss a large part of an entire cycle. Plus, I haven’t played in a while due to being pretty busy, so this will give me a bit to see if I even have time should an alternate be needed.
I prefer reading along unspoiled as well. It’s like watching a murder mystery.
THE RULES
Please note: the ruleset below is complete. There are no hidden mechanics, roles, factions, or rules.
Game Basics
Players will be randomly assigned a role (see below) and receive a Private Message (PM) with that role assignment. You are free to copy and paste your Role PM and any subsequent communications from the moderator, or lie about same, to your heart’s content.
THE DAY -
The game will start with Day One, which will begin whenever all players have confirmed receipt of their Role PM. During Day One, players may discuss whatever they choose and vote for anyone they choose. Day One will end at noon Eastern Standard Time on Monday, July 27; subsequent Days will last exactly five real life days. All Days are considered to end exactly at the appointed time, even if I’m not able to post the official “Day’s End” post at that time.
At the end of the Day, whichever player has the most votes will be “lynched” (see the Roles post for how ties are resolved). The lynched player is removed from the game and may no longer vote, take action, or participate in the discussion beyond a brief, non-substantive goodbye post. The player’s role and alignment will be revealed at this time.
You may vote for only one player at a time. In order for a vote to count, it must be in blue font, like so: vote storyteller0910
If you wish to change your vote, you must first “unvote” using red font: unvote storyteller0910, before placing your new vote. If you do not do this, your new vote will not count.
Importantly, the Werewolves are not permitted to engage in strategic discussion on their offsite forum during the Day cycle.
THE NIGHT -
Nights will last two real-life days, and like Days, will officially end at the appointed time even if I’m not around to say so. No voting is permitted during the Night, and conversation in the main thread must be fluff only – no substantive discussion of game matters, strategy, role claims, or the like.
During the Night, the Werewolves will convene and choose one Town player to kill. Absent intervention, that player will die at the end of the Night. That player is removed from the game and may no longer vote, take action, or participate in the discussion beyond a brief, non-substantive goodbye post. The player’s role and alignment will be revealed at this time.
Also, during the Night, the two Town power roles with active powers – the Seer and the Guardian – may act by sending a PM to the moderator (that’s me!) with the name of a target. Actions not used are lost.
Win Conditions
The Werewolves win if at the beginning of any Day or Night, the number of Werewolves is greater than half the number of living players.
The Town wins if at the beginning of any Day or Night, all Werewolves are dead.
Miscellaneous Rules
No recruitment or changes of alignment will occur at any time.
There are no in-game powers or mechanics whatsoever that affect the vote count in any way; if there is an apparent irregularity in the vote count, it is the result of moderator error. Which is going to happen, people, so be ready.
All public reveals by the moderator are 100% accurate in all cases.
Post editing is not forbidden by the rules of the game. Other players may frown upon post editing – it may even get you lynched – but the moderator will not intervene in any case of post editing.
Please participate. Active participation – several posts per Day, and voting at least once – is the lifeblood of the game. Multiple methods may be used to handle nonparticipatory players – replacement, modkill, bribes with chocolate – but these will be according to the discretion of the moderator.
Sorry for the newbie question, but… Are players allowed to discuss the game in PM or offboard channels like email? Or do all game strategy, discussion, role debates, etc., have to take place in the thread (and the offboard Werewolf thread)?
