I don’t know if he’s dumb or not but he has a really hard time understanding things that he doesn’t want to understand or thinking things that he isn’t already thinking.
So you’re trying to fight stupid with more stupid then?
I think you are seeing broad sweeping statements about Republican racism where there is a specific statement about Republican racism. When it comes to issues of race and racism, you just don’t know what you are talking about and seem incapable of learning.
Yes, there’s a different - the latter is conveniently vague.
Oh, please. YOu of all people should understand putting people into neat racial and ethnic groups and assuming they are all the same within that group.
Which is exactly what you do when justifying affirmative action policies in that other thread, as well as making personal attacks based on race. You presume that race explains something about an individual. That’s racism.
I agree that he doesn’t know what arguing is, and thinks he’s doing it, but that kind of jabberjawed horseshit is pretty standard grade as long as the person doing it is capable of shutting the fuck up after stupidly claiming victory. What makes him special is his (pathological?) compulsion to keep hammering on the same points, commandeering an entire thread, while claiming everyone else is both so dumb they’re wasting his time and also too scared to continue wasting it. You’re wrong about everything you say… I dare you to keep saying it!
Right this second his most recent posts in the other Pit thread are “I explained why you were wrong and you didn’t respond” and “I don’t give a shit what people think of me… nobody will explain it.” Once he shows his cards like that it’s hard to believe he aspires to anything but noise. He’s basically sexting with the board, except with being wrong in place of being naked.
No, it’s not like that at all. Claiming that the authority to tax means that Congress can impose something that isn’t a tax is stupid. Claiming that funding towards illegal immigrants = funding towards illegal immigrants isn’t.
My arguments are logical and reasoned. I stand by them. I make a few errors here and there, but I am patient and willing to discuss them, as long as others are.
No, actually, it indicates that I’m the adult who is interested in a genuine discussion about why I deserve these insults, and nobody will step up (except for one person, who didn’t respond to my self-defense). I still have yet to get a reasoned response.
No, your posts definitely don’t indicate you’re the adult willing to listen to reason just because you don’t curse. I know you think you’re being logical, but as a completely disinterested observer, it doesn’t come across that way. You keep misunderstanding what others are saying and accusing others of misunderstanding you, and yet you refuse to acknowledge that the common denominator in all this misunderstanding is you. Instead of reasoning that, if so many people are not understanding you, maybe you should make an effort to be more clear, you jump to the assumption that everybody else is wrong/bullying/childish. Just from my perspective, it seems people are offering valid rebuttals to your statements and you’re hand-waving them away and holding your ground on false positions and changing the goalposts in your arguments. Sometimes, when everybody else points out a flaw in your personality it’s because it’s actually there, not because they’re big meanies.
I don’t deal well with Bizarroland questions. I have no idea how things shake out in Bizarroland.
That has nothing to do with my claim.
I cringe even to think of how many Democrats would have let their inner racist flag fly given a Herman Cain presidency.
I strongly suspect that there would have been fewer racist attacks against Cain than there have been against Obama, because despite the high number of racist Democrats out there, there are almost certainly more racist Republicans, given the party platform’s attractiveness to racists.
Again, though, your question to me does nothing to address my claim. I said that recent politics have so many idiotic personal attacks against the serving president–attacks heretofore not motivated by racism–that it’d be a strange departure from tradition for all the idiotic attacks against Obama to be motivated by racism. Asking me whether Cain would have gotten as many racist attacks relates to my claim only by virtue of using a few of the same words.
Protip, kid: if you want to persuade people that your arguments are logical and reasoned, about the worst possible way to do that is to tell people that they’re logical and reasoned. In the same way that if I hold up my hands and tell you that they’re empty, you’re gonna start looking for the fake thumb.
I agree with all of this (other than to the extent that #3 & #4 contradict #1). I would also add:
Had Herman Cain been elected president, you would have seen a lot of Republicans trying to claim that various attacks against Cain were motivated by racism, or involved secret racist code words. Most of these claims would also be highly dubious.
I’ve seen pits on various topics turn into pits of magellan but I never thought I’d see a pit of magellan utrn into a pit of another poster but you are just THAT FUCKING STUPID!!!
Sometimes being criticized by both sides means you have found that uncomfortable middle ground that ideologues of both sides can’t tolerate, sometimes it just means you are just THAT FUCKING STUPID!!!
Calling an institution racist while saying that the individual members of that institution may or may not be racist is not conveniently vague, its a fairly accurate discription of the state of affairs with the Republican party. They’re not raging racists but they pander to racists (see Southern Strategy), they use dog whistle politics (welfare queen and almost every reference to inner city demographics), they even use it against each other (remember when Karl Rove successfully convinced the Repuiblican primary voters of South Carolina that the daughter McCain adopted from one of Mother Theresa’s orphanages wwas actually McCain’s lovechild with a black woman, and Bush won South Carolina).
I don’t want to derail this thread so I will just link to the other thread on Affirmative Action where your asshattery, pettifoggery and stupidity are displayed for all to see.
How am I just noticing you now? I remember your name, why don’t I remember you being this stupid before?
Raising revenue is a primary objective of the taxes as they are commonly understood. This was more in the nature of a penalty and when the courts asked under what authority the government can charge these penalties, the taxing power was one of the presented bases.
I think its more accurate to call the Obamacare penalty a penalty rather than a tax than to claim that some potential leakage of services to illegal aliens at the free clinic is the same thing as funding healthcare for illegal aliens.
Lance has been around for a while so I suspect he might have the flu or soemthing because i think i would have noticed this level of idiocy before. Or have I just been spared until now?
Except that there is no funding towards illegal immigrants, except by some twisted and specious definition that would consider nearly every bill that funds anything as funding illegal immigrants.
Yeah, could be - I rarely pay attention to posters’ usernames until they do something to make themselves stand out (usually, I hate to admit, in a bad way). So maybe this is new behavior. Couldn’t really say, and definitely not going to search posts to make sure.
He’s been at it for a couple of years now, as I almost forgot and was then reminded of last year. I think our brains do their best to block it out, but there’s only so much they can do.
