magellan01 - epitome of racist Republican

No he is nitpicking and concern trolling to hide the fact that while he knows its wrong to be racist, he wants to find ways to excuse the racism he finds in his soul rather than admit that he is a racist (like many of us are) and try to change and control that racism. In the process, he ends up excusing the racism of others.

Try reading the one on affirmative action. He think that giving an advantage to the descendents of slaves over everyone else is racism. He also thinks that pointing out his blind spot to white privilege is racism. The whole goddam world is racist against white males apparently. He’s just a whiny little bastard.

Bricker is unapologetic about his opinions (no matter how wrong they are) and frequently admits error, and I have seen him change his mind on things more frequently than just about anyone else on this board. I disagree with him vehemently on voting rights an a bunch of other stuff. Sure he engages in some pettifoggery but its hard not to respect him unless you are into vilifying everyone that disagrees with you.

Lance is nothing but pettifoggery and whining.

Get a room.

That sounds an awful lot like concern trolling.

Do not do this.

You poor dear, let me get you a cup of tea, you must be at the end of your tether.

Know what? That *does *make him, if not the epitome, then at least an exemplar of racist Republicans. OP QED.

Assuming he’s on the up and up, he’s too stupid to do it effectively or too smug to do it right. In this thread he’s attempting to apply Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle to the Republican Party. That’s incredibly dumb.

I’m not racist and I never excuse racism.

You, however, embrace it.

Don’t put words in my mouth. You don’t understand what I think at all.

I oppose racism. You don’t.

No, I am right and you are wrong. I oppose racism in all its forms; you use racism not only in your proposed policies, but in your arguments for them.

Well, Marley, that may be true, but you won’t know until you actually give me a chance instead of simply spewing insults, will you?

(So you know, I think I’m pretty smart, and often smug, but that describes most posters here).

No, I’m simply applying the basic rules of logic and science, such as requiring evidence for claims, and using rational arguments, and all that nonsense.

You’ve got almost five thousand posts here. How much more of a chance do we need to give you?

And that’s in this thread alone. :smack:

It’s not a matter of how many posts.

Why, some of your best friends are …

It’s pathetic when you have to put words in my mouth.

Assuming this isn’t just trolling, because it’s incredibly fucking stupid, it gets at the more serious problem: lance strongarm is opposed to drawing conclusions based on evidence. That’s either because he’s too dumb to do it (so we shouldn’t either), or because trolls need the benefit of the doubt.

You never know. His next post might be brilliantly informative. But then the cat would die.

No, I am saying that both the evidence, and the way the conclusions are drawn from them, both suck.

You know, basic argument. Get the fuck over it.

Sure. It’s about content. And after 4,902 posts (and counting) it’s not hard to get a pretty good read on the sort of content you bring to this board. And that content is about half a notch above a five year old playing the “Why?” game. It’s not necessary to directly engage your posts to come to this conclusion - it’s a fact that can be easily derived by simple observation.

When someone disagrees with you, it must be that person who is wrong. It can’t possibly be you. It must be me.

I stand by my arguments. All 5,000 of them or whatever.

Do not do what? I can’t tell if you think I’m about to breach some sort of etiquette or if you are junior moderating in some way.

Well, you’re a pretty good approximation of one. You claim to be all liberal but when confronted with the fact that we have AA because we had slavery and segregation for 500 years in this country and that has caused some serious disparities between the black population and the general population, your response is “gee thats horrible, but don’t give them an advantage over me, that would be racist”

You ever watch the Stephen Colbert show? You know how he always says “I never see race” He does that because that is what modern racists do. They don’t try to overtly oppress minorities any longer (mostly because they can’t), they just try to maintain the status quo (which after centuries of racism has created a societal bias towards them). They object to efforts to reverse the effects of the 500 years of oppression blacks have suffered because it might mean that they will be (slightly) relatively worse off than if we did nothing. So you might not think you are racist but you are promoting a racist position.

Hell, I don’t think ANYBODY understands what you think, I don’t think YOU understand what you think.

You support maintaining the status quo. A status quo that is the result of centuries of slavery and segregation. If that isn’t racist, its close enough to put you in the same camp as racists until the scales fall from your eyes.

No you don’t. You call racial preferences for blacks racism because you are a white male. Your entire position is based on your perspective as a white male and the sense that you are losing something that rightfully belongs to you.

I once asked you if my grandfather’s grandfather killed your grandfather’s grandfather and took all his land and as a result of that great crime my great grandfather went to harvard and my grandfather went to harvard and my father went to harvard, while your great grandfather was an orphan that shined shoes and your grandfather picked fruit and you father raised you in poverty. So I apply to harvard and you apply to harvard. harvard is aware of our family history. Do you think it would be unfair of harvard to give you a preference in admission so that even if I scored 200 points better than you on the SATs, they could still accept you instead of me?

You replied “Of course it would unfair. Do you actually think it would be fair? Are you trying to make my point for me?”

The way you use it, it is nonsense.

He’s advising you not to waste your time arguing with a nitpicking idiot.

Heck, after taking pi to the 4902nd digit, somebody must’ve thought, “hey, maybe this sucker’s irrational” and realized there was no end to the process.

I feel like I’m at a roast of magellan01 and people only want to talk about Andy Dick.
