Magellan01 is a fucking moron.

I wouldn’t personally lump those two together at all. Sam is, in my view, a cool, collected poster that just happens to have the same disconnect with reality that most people with extreme ideologies do. But even so, he’s reasonable, and reasonable people can disagree. I used to think the same thing about Bricker, I especially loved his insight into various legal doctrines, and his views on politics in general (even if I strongly disagreed), but around the 2004 election, and still today (I was absent a while) he became some kind of weird tu quoqueing whiner. I find it much harder to remember the reasonable Bricker I disagreed strongly with but nevertheless respected. He’s gradually becoming Shodan.

Re the OP, I would be ever so happy if my characterization of the subject’s posting habits were to catch on.

I think we have another nominee.

You forgot to mention (paraphrased): “Whenever Batman is pictured, who is he pictured with? Criminals, that’s who! However, all my pictures show me with the police! Which means? Batman’s a criminal, associating with criminals. And I’m a law-abiding citizen, associating with the police.”

Life imitating “art” indeed!

Read for comprehension then.

::whoosh::

So you’re saying that magellan01 is representative of the other conservative posters?

Good g-d I hope not…

I wouldn’t say so particularly, but any conservative views around here tend to be met with hostility.

The sun rises in the East and sets in the West.

I don’t necessarily know about that. Airman Doors, USAF and danceswithcats are both conservative, and you hardly ever see a huge kerfluffle blowing up around them the way you do with Shodan or magellan01 or Lonesome [del]Nazi[/del] Polecat. Scylla also manages to keep himself from becoming the center of a nuclear explosion most of the time, and I defy anyone to call him a liberal and mean it. It appears to be a personality thing. You may find a lot of people disagreeing with the folks I named, but they don’t inspire these kind of threads. I honestly can’t recall ever having seen a Pitting of danceswithcats. I’ve seen at least one Pitting of Airman, but IIRC it was by someone that even the mainstream here considers an extremist. I have seen Pittings of Scylla, but he was going through a period where he was just an asshole in general at that point, which he seems to have recovered from now.

Airman Doors is voting for Obama, so he isn’t going to get Pitted. danceswithcats doesn’t post much about who he supports, although it seems to be non-Obama. Scylla has been Pitted (seriously) a half-dozen times or so. Me, ten times.

Which is entirely a function of how vocal I am about my voting for McCain. That is basically what the Usual Suspects call “trolling”.

Witness the example of Bricker. He announced that he was considering voting for Obama. All was sweetness and light. Then he reconsidered. Instantly the accusations of trolling began.

It doesn’t make any difference if you are reasonable and moderate (like he is), or if (like me) you really don’t care much about the opinions of idiots. The dogs are going to bark at anything they don’t like.

In some cases it is true that Dopers are liberal and still not pitch a fit whenever someone dissents from the group think. In others, it isn’t, and those are the ones who start most of the Pit threads and do most of the foolish ranting in Pittings that someone else starts.

Regards,
Shodan

You’re not a troll because you support McCain. You’re a troll because your a defective piece of shit that tries to make other people upset to get a rise out of them.

Sorry, jumped the gun a bit there. Please accept my appologies.

:o
Psst-The Second Stone, actually Ms. Robyn is a liberal.
Yeah, danceswithcats is pretty cool. Sam Stone-my ONLY beef is occassionally he seems to know better about the US when he’s from Canada, but not a huge deal. Scylla goes hot and cold. (When he’s not posting political stuff, he’s pretty cool)

[QUOTE=jayjay;10326907I have seen Pittings of Scylla, but he was going through a period where he was just an asshole in general at that point, which he seems to have recovered from now.[/QUOTE]

Shows what you know. I’m a bigger asshole than ever.

That is me that says the smart things. The similarity of our 01’s just confused you.

Thanksgiving with the 01 family must be pretty tense…

Sam actually does know a lot about the U.S. It’s very apparent from his posts that he’s done his research.

Flying Dutchman, on the other hand, is just as apparently making it up as he goes along.

Bricker was trolling. He never intended to vote for Obama.

That’s a little uncharitable, as well as presumptuous. You can’t know what Bricker’s thought process actually was.

Me, I think it was something like those dopes who supported Hillary and kept saying that they would hold their breath and turn blue before voting for that awful Obama man. Then they turned arond, saw that there was no real option and decided to vote for the awful Obama man and skipping the whole turning-blue part. (Haven’t heard much from those dopes lately, have we? Remember when they were the center of our universe?) ** Bricker** went through a similar process, I think. “I’m gonna–yeah, I’m gonna–almost there–I’m gonna vote–gonna vote for --yeah, I’m really gonna vote for–nah, can’t do it.”
