Magnicifent Seven remake in theatres this September

Trailer here. Looks like fun. With Denzel Washington in the Yul Brenner role.

Bad guy is some robber baron rich guy with a hired army rather than a gang of marauding bandits. There seems to me a conscious effort on the part of the producers to make a more culturally diverse team of heroes. And of course a hot chick thrown in for … some reason as the person who goes out and recruits Denzel in the first place.

I have hopes. I was really leery of a remake of the classic True Grit, but I was wrong. They did the original proud. I hope they can do as well with this film icon.

If we’re going in the direction of remaking classic westerns, I’d like to see another Shane and another The Outlaw Josey Wales, though again I’m hard pressed to think they can be improved.

You know what would be a bad assed original idea for a remake? (wait does that even make sense in english?)

Take a remake like this, add in some dreamlike states, and Make a remake that blends The Magnificent 7 with the movie that inspired it in the first place 7 Samurai. So you Remake both movies into one.

I am not really sure how it would work but it could be cool. This one looks like they might do a good job with it though.
