Mail.com.... fuckyou.com!

I’ve had an E-mail account on Mail.com for quite some time now, and in the last three months the service has just collapsed.

  • Half the time I try to log on, I get a “we’re too busy” or “Technical difficulties” message. It’s the most-busted-down Web site in the world.

  • When I do manage to log on, it’s slower than the SDMB during “National Use A Web Site’s Search Function To Find the Word `The’ In Every Forum Week.”

  • Mail sent to me disappears more or less at random. Sometimes it inexplicably shows up days or even weeks late. Other times it never arrives at all. Today I got E-mails from yesterday, but I also got a chunk of mail from a week ago. Why? Who knows.

  • Amidst all this, they’ve jacked up the popup experience, including the new and extremely unpleasant spectre of popups without close buttons.

Now, I can understand technical problems, but THREE MONTHS? Get your fucking act together!

Actually, don’t bother, you bastards. I’ve started a Hotmail account, God help me.

Seems like my problems cleared up with mail.com about 2 weeks ago. If they can get keep service at a level it was befre the meltdown, I’ll stick with them. They were very reliable for 2+ years.

You get what you pay for.

I just signed up with Earthlink because we got Sprint Broadband, and Earthlink is their ISP. Earthlink’s web-based e-mail is powered by mail.com. What a disaster! My previous ISP’s web e-mail was quick, easy and trouble free. So it WASN’T HTML-enabled - no biggie. This - it takes forever to connect, and it arbitrarily receives or doesn’t receive e-mail.

I’m getting to the point where I’m not checking my home e-mail on the Web anymore - I’m waiting until I get home and downloading it from the Earthlink server.

And, friedo - I’m PAYING for mine!

I’m seriously bumming about this. I just sent out notice to everyone that I was changing my e-mail address (due to rampant porn and other spam at my Yahoo account). I had set up an account at mail.com a year prior, and when I remembered it and opened it up, there was not 1 single spam. I figured hey- great deal! I used it for about 3 weeks- fast as can be, sweet service. Done deal.

The day I sent out my change of address notice, the fun starts. They “upgrade” and all hell breaks loose. What is up with them? Can’t log on, can’t get mail. How frustrating. I’m giving it a month or so then I’m bailing out. It was so great and now it’s so bad!

Zette :frowning:

I know exactly how you feel. My blood pressure probably doubles when I go to sign on. Everything was peachy there until they fucking “upgraded.” Every designer in on that “upgarde” should be lined up and given a swift kick in the ass by every mail.com user.

Their interface is terrible. Tech support NON EXISTANT. Their service is slow. I once sent myself a test mail that said “the time is now 10:22 PM on 2/15/01.” I recieved it on 3/3/01!

Once my entire mail box was deleted although I was 97% below the maximum space.

I used their mail forwarding service for about 3[?] years … Never had any problems, liked having ONE email
address that never changed.

Then about 2-3 months ago, I just stopped getting any mail from my mail.com account at all. I figured they were
experiencing technical difficulties and whatnot, and their website echoed that hypothesis.

Eventually just to see what was going on, I pinged the domain I was using through them [namely earthling.net].
It has been unreachable since I stopped getting mail. I guess they just dropped that domain or something…? Any
mail sent to my earthling.net address either bounces or just disappears. Great stuff.

Am I the only one who is not having any trouble with them anymore?
