You should be able to go to the bottom of the forum page, and there are three blocks for “Display Options”. One of them has “From The” and the drop down box lets you select how far back it looks. Should be on either skin.
As for the code problem, I posted at the skin creator’s page and hefixed it.
Most of the really annoying stuff in the new look has been fixed, but I still find the older look to be slightly preferable. Thanks for setting up the option!!
The one really noticeable difference is still that issue with the search function. In the old style, you can select a whole slew of time ranges to search agains, but in the new style, you can search in time intervals of 1 year or less, but the only way to search for longer time intervals is to search “all”. If we’re so concerned about resources being tied up in searches, that would seem like an obvious thing to fix.
New theme? Depending on browser, it may not be so blue. Specifically, it may be a white button on a white background labeled with white text. Probably with white 3d shadows and white highlights.
The button is there, in the place it’s always been. You’ll just have to poke around until it triggers. Or click-and-drag to highlight it, in which case (in my browser, IE6) it shows up as pale blue text on a while button on a white background etc.
Yeah, that’s apparently what I’ve got. Moved my cursor around up there and where the box SHOULD be, the arrow turned into a finger. Stupid shit like this really throws me off. Make one of the most basic functions more confusing for the low-level user. :smack:
Guess it is no worse than an all black ship with black controls…
Though I’m fond of being a world authority on some such nonsense, I am sick of bragging about it. I’m from Minnesota. It’s unseemly and I wish to turn the stupid option off by default. While I appreciate BigT’s efforts, at some point the SDMB paid for this software (we did, right?) and I expect proper support 20 years later, dammit!
It does feel like, once the old theme was added back, Ed decided to deprioritize any changes, including the ones we’d already agreed upon. As far as I can tell, there have been no changes on the test site at all since then, not even the really simple ones.
Like I said, dropzone: just switch back to the old theme. Set it as your default, and ignore the new theme until they actually work on it again.
Or use my addon. I’ve made some more changes, and even made it a lot faster on older computers!
