Major bugs in SDMB re-skin fixed. What do you think?

I’m starting a new thread because many of the problems reported in earlier threads reflected formatting problems we believe we have now resolved. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Be aware that this is a simply a re-skinning of the existing board. The purpose was to make the SDMB easier to read on mobile devices. We didn’t upgrade the underlying board software, and basic board operation should remain substantially the same. If you think something is broken, please let us know.

Some of the complaints seem to be primarily aesthetic. While we’re not opposed to tweaking, the major concern right now is to make sure everything is working OK. If your major objection is that things look different, give it some time. The new design may grow on you. We appreciate your patience.

seems fine to me, but then again I usually go with the flow.

Join date/Location/Post count still do not appear in the portrait view on mobile (Safari/iPhone).

ETA: Also, signatures are still checked on by default.

Huh. The “Add new thread” and “Reply” buttons are now blue with Chrome, and still red in IE. Personally much prefer the blue, but I’ll survive.

I like the larger sized text (old, with bad eyesight) but I hope the floating arrow thingie on the bottom right, and the heavy blue line marking each post go away.

That glaring red box on the left of the thread that takes you to new posts on the thread - it used to be blue, I believe? Can we have it back to blue?

Also, a lot of the wysiwyg tools are ironically missing in the advanced editor (again on mobile).

It does look better and more readable on my phone (Android). It looks somewhat worse on my desktop, but not deal-breaker worse.

I’d like to suggest changing the color of the blue bar at the top of each post to something with a more subtle contrast, perhaps the blue-grey color that surrounds the Quick Reply box?

Edit: Oh, and have the Show Signature box unchecked by default on both Quick Reply and regular reply.

Last post column needs to be much wider.

On my desktop (Safari/Mac), these as all still out of alignment.

Everything still looks huge. Also, when I get to the end and the reply button is the wrong color it’s a bit jarring (I know, that’s a huge problem, right). My first thought is that the reply button should be dark blue, but I’d rather see the bars (ignoring their size) be light blue to match the button. In either case, between the reply buttons and the bars and the grey I saw somewhere the whole board looks like someone fiddled with the customize settings and never really finished. It just doesn’t match.

Also, everyone has been mentioning the stats not being right justified, I just noticed that they’re not even lined up where they are. As you scroll down (at least on my monitor) they’re all +/- about an inch. Again, it looks unfinished.

I posted in the huge thread, but I’ll post here since it’s a bug not an aesthetic thing.

On an iPhone 6+ using Safari, latest iOS, if I switch between portrait and landscape mode while composing a quick reply it refreshes the page and I lose what I typed, and I get the error message at top that says, “A problem has occurred with this web page and it was reloaded.”

This does not happen with a full reply.

The Reply Wysiwyg box is very small, the non-wysiwyg box is fine.

ETA: Sorry, should have included that is in Firefox on Windows.

“Last Post” column doesn’t line up properly with the other columns. Checked with multiple browsers on Windows 7 and XP (desktop).

The rest I’ll get used to… I guess…

Is there no way you could simply issue mobile versions of pages to mobile devices like countless other websites do? This is a significantly worse experience on desktop.

The “Multi Quote” text link doesn’t do anything on either Safari or Chrome under Mac OS 10.12. The icon next to it works fine, but not the link. For the other reply tools (“Reply with Quote” and “Quick Reply”), both the icon and the text link work.

wysiwyg = What You See Is What You Get? I’m not sure what box you’re even talking about.

It lines up for me on Windows 10 with Firefox.

Another complaint I’m seeing is that the font size changed: not for me either.

^ As I just discovered above, this is true.

The text next to these icons should be removed. Only the icons are needed, anyhow, as rolling over them will give you a pop-up telling you what they are.

Also, I’d kill the way quoting something puts it in italics. That’s lame and might destroy the original formatting by the OP.

I like the new skin just fine. It’s kind of bold! And it is MUCH better than the old style on my Android phone.
