At the moment, the most interesting idea I have is green grapes wrapped in smoked ham. And maybe throw in some pepperjack cheese to spice it up a bit.
I could make a salad, I suppose with mixed greens, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, asparagus, cheddar cheese and dressing. Normally, I’d throw some egg, tuna and croutons but those are out of the fridge.
Cream cheese slathered on ice cubes.
Given that we went shopping yesterday, the sky’s the limit. Off-hand, let’s go with steak, salad, green beans and craft beer.
An omelette with, duh, eggs, sliced ham, cheddar cheese, and carmelized onions.
I have 3 friends that pop this quiz at me every once in a while. They’ll call me and say something like “I have bread, eggs, asparagus and cheese, what can I make?”
I’ll say “You can make a frittata” and then spend twenty minutes explaining how to make as frittata.
I get these calls less often now that there are apps that will create a recipe for you based on your ingredients, but they were always a fun challenge.
Braunschweiger on toasted rye with thinly sliced onion, chopped pickle and mustard and side of French fries.
No wait, can I get a baked potato instead?
I could make…whatever Jello mixed with beer is.
Uh… dill pickle and kale tacos. I’ve been out of town a lot lately.
If we include the freezer, then pulled pork and other good things. If not, then:
omelets with ham, turkey, Swiss.
Or sandwiches with same.
Or grilled cheese.
Bagels and cream cheese.
Club sandwich with bacon, turkey and Swiss on sourdough.
Bacon and egg sandwich.
Breakfast burritos.
Cheese enchiladas.
Leftover breaded chicken filets with orzo and asparagus, spritz of lemon.
Less is more.
Tonight, we are having grilled burgers. I’m also going to slice up potatoes, bell pepper, onions, and carrots, brush with a little oil, and grill those as well. I bought a couple of those grill baskets two years ago, and they are wonderful. Tossed green salad. Yes, we have hamburger buns. And we have cantaloupe, strawberries, bananas, and green grapes for dessert.
If I had cabbage we’d be having cole slaw, too.
That actually sounds interesting.
Hm -
fresh strawberries, baby spinach, leftover poached chicken, cucumber, shredded carrots, leftover sliced water chestnuts, mung sprouts - I foresee we are having spinach salad for supper tonight. Just need to whip up some sort of vaguely oriental toasted sesame oil dressing for it. Wonder if I an get mrAru to stop and get a can of those funkyLaChoy noodles in place of croutons.
I think I may pop open that fresh tub of white miso and make some soup to go along with it.
Wow! A tub of spoilt milk, and the TV dinner smells a bit funny but, I’ve eaten worse.
9 hours later “This is 911. What is your emergency?”
I currently have in my fridge bread, cheese, eggs, a chorizo sausage, butter, jam, salsa, milk, carrots, bologna, mayo, mustard… Plenty of options.
Instructions:
- In a large frypan, melt butter until it froths.
- Add minced garlic, tamarind paste and prawn paste and fry until fragrant.
- Pour in diet cola and reduce.
I have a supermarket on the corner, between my house and the train station. I don’t keep much in the fridge long-term.
Hm. Steak sandwich–I have take and bake rolls and those cheap bacon wrapped steaks. Could add cheddar/jack cheese if you want to be all fancy. Serve with yogurt for dessert.
If we open it up to the freezer, I could serve some vegetables with it.
Beer, cupcakes and pineapple!
Hmmmm - breakfast opportunity…
Bocconcini con pomodori (Mozzarella with tomatoes) in a herb and olive oil dressing. Nutella & biscuit sandwiches. Eggs scrambeled in ghee, served with a slice of wholewheat bread.Egg Bharuchi Akuri (savory scrambled eggs with dried fruits). That is going to be my dinner, supper-in-bed and breakfast respectively :).
I have leftover smoked ham, homemade potato salad, deviled eggs and fresh green beans. Sounds good to me…
