Make us laugh with Wikipedia

I came across this entry in Wikipedia, and literally has a snarfing fit over this part of the discussion.

Is it necessary? If you REALLY feel it necesary to have a photograph of diarrhea, please put up something other than child playing in it. When people come to this article for information about diarrhea, I really don’t think they’re going to expect to see that. A vast majority of people will be disgusted by that. Let’s not get into a discussion over how feces is a taboo, though. What needs to be considered is whether the photograph is useful. I don’t see how a picture of a child playing in his diarrhea is useful. (a Wikipedia editor)

First, I think it is pretty obvious that the child is playing in mud. Second, even if the picture were of a child playing with its own stool, a more appropriate picture would be one of JUST diarrhea. The child playing adds no value and is in fact a distraction from the valuable information in the article. (another Wiki editor)

There’s just something about the thought of grown adults seriously discussing the idea of diarrhea photos that made me lose it. What have you seen in Wikipedia that made you laugh out loud?

I noticed yesterday that if you look up classical literature, like, say, The Odyssey, or Romeo and Juliet, you get the same spoiler warning before the information that you’d get if you looked up any sort of modern movie or book. Thanks for your concern, wikipedia!

Not necessarily. It’s entirely possible that everyone involved in this discussion was 15 or 16. The only requirements of being a Wikipedia editor are, well, internet access and literacy.

How do you know it’s a Harry Potter book?? I can’t make anything out but scribbles and some sort of picture.

When I click the image to zoom in, I can see it. It might not actually say Harry Potter, maybe it says Hairy Pooter or something, but it’s definitely supposed to look like the Harry Potter logo.
