A couple years ago my dentist recommended these little round brushes for cleaning between the teeth. So, I love the things, as it feels so damn good to get in there and brush. If I didn’t use them, I felt dirty and irritated.
Now, I find it is unsatisfying, because it feels like there are locations between the spots I am cleaning, and these locations feel unfinished and in need of service. However, I am cleaning all the spaces, and the locations I feel I am missing are actually the places where the teeth themselves are. Like I need to be running the brush right through each tooth, and cleaning the inside of it.
You could have all your teeth pulled and get full dentures. Then you could put 'em in a glass at night and clean holy hell out of your gums!
Then you could have little holes drilled in all your dentures and blast them with high pressure sterile something or other!
Or you could just say, “I think I’m getting a little nutsy about my teeth. I shall brush, clean the interspaces, floss etc. as directed, then see how Doc says I am doing.”
No, I mean the spaces between THOSE. I want to go halfway between the space on the left of each tooth and the space on the right of it. Right through the goddam root. I have no idea why. They feel, I dunno, in need of attention.
I can barely get glide floss between my teeth. If I tried to use one of those brushes, I’d have to go to the dentist to get it removed!
OP - when was the last time you had your teeth cleaned at the dentist’s office? You may be feeling a little plaque or tartar building up just under the gumline where the professionals need to get at it - don’t try to get under your gums yourself or you could give yourself a bit of an infection. And check with your dentist on how often you’re really supposed to use those brushes - they’re pretty abrasive and you could be wearing your enamel off. More harm than good.
They used to make chewable disclosing tablets for kids, that would stain where the plaque had not been removed to show where the kid needed to brush. Get some of those, see if you’re leaving plaque in the places you think need more work.
I have never been able to get floss between my teeth without shredding it completely, they’re just too close together. A few years ago I bought a waterpic and oh my what a difference!
I mean like the “Go-betweens” brand. As far as I know they are aimed those of us who are old enough that there is space for them. They look like small pipe cleaners on little plastic handles. You can see similar things at: http://www.dentalproductshopper.com/go-betweens-proxabrush-cleaners
And, yes, this is over the top, in a mundane and pointless way.
