I’ve redecorated my bedroom with a safari-like theme. Lots of animal print, palms and ferns and such everywhere, grass mats made into blinds, etc etc. I’d really like to have a mosquito net above the bed…I love how they look. They’re quite pricey in the stores, so I’d like to make one instead. They look quite simple, but I can’t seem to find any instructions online, so I’m not sure how to start, or what I’ll need to make it.
Has anyone here ever made a mosquito net? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Making a really effective mosquito net might be tricky, but assuming you’ve got decent pest control in your house, you won’t need it to be functional.
Achieving the look shouldn’t be that hard… I’m not sure which style of net you mean, whether the the drapey ones: http://www.longroad.com/Readynet.htm or the military style: http://www.rangerjoes.com/catalog/selection.cfm?category=main&id=789, but try looking for a pattern for a canopy or draped window treatment and just use mesh as your fabric.
The style I like is the first one, from Readynet. I think I may be able to do it with just one trrip to the fabric store…one styrofoam ring, fabric to cover it, then the netting itself. Hmmm…
