The movie of the hit play opens in Canadian theatres today. I’m not sure when it’s opening in the U.S. or internationally, but the buzz is that Mambo Italiano might have the same kind of success as My Big Fat Greek Wedding did, what with the ethnic angle.
It’s a gay movie, set in Montreal, about a young Italian-Canadian who comes out to his family, and the hilarity that ensues. It stars the ever-so-cute Luke Kirby as protagonist Angelo, the hunkalicious Peter Miller as Angelo’s boyfriend Nino, Québecois chanteuse turned actress Ginette Reno as Maria, Angelo’s long-suffering mamma, and Paul Sorvino as Gino, Angelo’s father.
Everyone should go see it! The hubby’s taking me as part of my birthday celebrations.
I’ll post a review later on.
