Somebody needs to explain to the hipsters that IT’S CALLED A TOP KNOT! And your generation neither invented nor discovered it.
Similarly, I went to high school in the mid-late 70s and college in the late 70s/early 80s. Some of us wore our hair long in the back and shorter in front, but it was never called a mullet. That was something some idiot rappers in the 90s came up with as a stupid joke.
Then it’s not a style…it crappy wad of hair conventiently placed in the back…I’be bet dollars to doughnuts that plenty of these men think those squirrel nest buns are actually stylish…PSA…its not…its just lazy…
The crazy hair colors are getting to me…especially when they have started growing out. It just looks nasty. OTOH my Daddy made me and my sisters take ballet and the teacher made us wear buns to class. I hated them. So in rebellion, I snuck and had my friends mother cut my very long hair really short in a shaggy pixie-type cut. Oh boy did I get in trouble!! My Daddy was speechless. Never had I seen his face get so red. But I got to quit ballet class. Best decision ever!
I certainly don’t consider it a style and no it doesn’t look good…hey, if thats what you gotta do…that’s what you do…but don’t expect any compliments on it…I don’t expect any fashion praise after I’m done changing the oil in my car either…
Female and will have to disagree. Don’t particularly like buns on women and think of them as frumpy. They’ve looked good on most of the men I’ve seen them on. But most of the men I’ve seen them on have been on tv (therefore much more likely to be attractive than people I see IRL) and have professional stylists.
Saw the thread title, thought, “my wife frequently says she likes my buns, and I’ve heard plenty of other women talk about a guy having a nice set of buns, what’s up with this OP?”
Had to open the damn thread to find out it was about hair. Not what I was expecting.
Yeah, what’s wrong with young men these days? Why, a ponytail was plenty good enough for us back in the day. For the record, that day was just after the days of the crew cut, pig shave, duck’s ass, pompadour, and mop top.
On another note, why are extreme mullet/skullet haircuts a thing among poor white young southern men?
