Man charged with raping 3-year-old girl...sick, sick, sick

Rockville Man Is Charged With Raping 3-Year-Old
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A51908-2004Mar11.html

He faces a combined maximum of 65 years in prison…I think he deserves death, slow and painful and violent. What in the world could possibly cause a person to do something like this?

What about the San Diego man in whose possession were found photos of him abusing a 2 month old? anything further on that?

Mental illness would cause them.

And in other news, the Earth’s atmosphere contains air.

I am 100% positive I will get severely flamed for this, but I just am not understanding the mentality of people who scour the news for single incidents of child rape and then post threads of outrage. Doesn’t it go without saying? Is ANYONE IN THE UNIVERSE arguing that raping a 3-year old is a good thing to do? Do we really need a new thread for every one of the billions of times somebody does something evil?

Commence flaming…

Blowero, you are exactly right.

People, as gruesome and disgusting as this is, we all know how evil people can be and really don’t need to know about it on a thread-by-thread basis. Maybe we should petition to have a sticky thread at the top of the forum for the molesters Etc. ?

Sam

While I’m certainly not saying that the rapist didn’t do a horrible thing, I just don’t understand the slow and painful death that some people here seem to want certain criminals to suffer. What is this, the fifteenth century?

I don’t know about this. Is a 3-year-old capable of describing the details of a rape?

Not quite in the way the OP’s quote describes (I refuse to register to read an article, so I haven’t seen the full text). But most 3 year olds have a decent vocabulary- certainly most of them know rudimentary terms for their body parts, thanks to toilet training- and can certainly string enough words together to get the message across.

What likely happened is the parents said something along the lines of “So, what did you and Freaky Molester Guy do last night?” expecting the child to list off the card or board games they played or tv they watched, and instead getting something more along the lines of “Freaky Molester Guy put his peepee in my tata.”

You know just yesterday I was thinking we need a Sticky thread with a thread title like “Hell Readies a Room*”

You can get there via Google.

Or there’s some funny business going on. I say we wait for more info before we string him up.

Oh, I agree completely. My comment was just to illustrate how a 3yo may communicate sexual abuse, not to make any definitive comment either way about his guilt or innocence. I want to see way more information before deciding something like that.

No problem. The second part was intended toward the thread in general.

And the 4 grammer and spelling rants (that I found in a cursory search) you opened in the pit are much more worthy of our time? You think the OP scoured news items looking for something to post about? You don’t think it was more likely that the he ran across the item, got pissed off about it, and remembered that he had a forum in which he could express it?

Relax. I’m sure I’ll make plenty of spelling and grammer errors for you to fume about…

Thanks - I was starting to think my prediction of getting flamed might turn out to be wrong. We can always count on you, spooje. Hmmm…shouldn’t taxguy be showing up pretty soon?

No comment about the news story itself, except to say that one of my friends said that’s the brother of a friend of hers. I didn’t believe it when I first heard it from her.

And BTW, spooje, nyctea is a “she.”

Ah, I had a 50/50 shot… that’ll learn me.

That would be “grammar.”

As a former kid whose stories could well have graced the pit I find the outrage is very useful for me to see actually. I imagine I am not alone in that.

Not that the SDMB needs to play therapist but these sorts of threads do serve a purpose, albeit not one that is likely intended by the posting of them.

So it’s therapeutic for you when people find news stories of child-rapists, and start threads about how they would like to slowly torture and kill them? I’m not a psychiatrist, but that doesn’t sound too healthy to me. I would think getting yourself into a support group would be an infinitely better way to work on the healing process. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

If there were no outrage toward rapists, I could see the importance of bringing it up. But it’s something that is so commonly known, I’m not seeing the point. It seems rather like starting a thread to say how much you hate Hitler - you simply aren’t going to get an argument from anyone.

And so it will probably not run for pages. People will look in, agree that there are some truely sick fucks in the world and it will drop off the front page.

People take what they want from threads like this. I agree: they’re not looking for an argument, but it’s just registering disgust, and it’s in the right forum.
