[booming drums/heavy bass riff]
Set me free why don’t ya babe,
Get out my life why don’t ya babe,
‘Cause you really don’t want me,
You just keep me hangin’ on…
Hint: It’s 1967, and Carmine is on drums.

I don’t get it… is this a riddle of some sort? Are you looking for someone to identify the song? Is it an inside joke between you and Carmine? Is this a scene from a movie? Do I have no idea because I was born 10 years after the date mentioned?
Exactly what kind of a reply were you hoping for?
Wasn’t this song covered by Debbie Gibson or someone equivelant in the 80’s?
Not really a riddle at all. I woke up this morning with this old song running around in my head. Thought I might be able to find a few Vanilla Fudge fans out there. The OP was was from their first hit ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’. They played it on the Ed Sullivan Show in Jan 1968. Please don’t ask me who Ed Sullivan was. And if Debbie Gibson is covering Vanlla Fudge tunes then the world is indeed worse off. Sigh
Dave
Oh ok… you’re hungry because you’re thinking of Vanilla Fudge
The whole Hint: thing threw me off a bit.
Some of those old groups have weird names. I used to hear all these songs on the radio as a kid (including that one) and I never knew the names of the groups. As I learn them they are quite weird.
Some of these new groups have weird names, too! Limp Bizkit - hell , they can’t even spell. Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, Bare Naked Ladies, Crash Test Dummies, Nine Inch Nails…
Give me my Vanilla Fudge, Badfinger, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Cream, Deep Purple, ZZ Top…
Heh, heh. Both eras are a little strange, huh?
I like the name Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan said it wasn’t even about adolescent activity at Halloween: he happened to like the word “smashing” because it is such a strong word and it also is along the lines of “extraordinary”
Anyway…I’m hungry! I want an Arbys sandwich or Taco Bell.
I’ve never heard Strawberry Alarm Clock, but the name is intriguing.
