Heresy!
I don’t mind the idea of a bearded Superman, though I can see how it would make the secret identity problematic. He’s just a tough character to make interesting, I think. Glad they’re not making Pa Kent “perfect” though.

I just watched that. The ad YouTube stuck in front of it, a preview for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new movie, “The Last Stand” was better than that pretentious little…thing.
See, I loved that.
Sure, the crowd kneels – and then someone stands up, observing that, wait, why are we kneeling to this guy? There are always men like him.
That’s when Captain America arrives, cheerfully making the exact same point; Loki tells Cap to kneel; Cap refuses, with a spinning jump-kick; an even-less-impressed Iron Man then shows up for the casual win, taunting Reindeer Games at gunpoint.
Later, even minus his armor Tony patiently explains that, no, you’re not getting it: there’s no throne, you’re just going to get your ass beat. He’s as dismissive as Fury was, when reciting that “BOOT - ANT” bit right back at the guy. He’s as dismissive as the Hulk will later be, when delivering the best line in the film.
Hell, he’s as dismissive as Phil Coulson – who even while bleeding out from a Loki-inflicted wound keeps refusing to take the loser seriously. At some point, it goes from being a running gag to being the point of the movie.
Man, I am really tired of the “regular citizen stands up to supervillian” scenes they love to throw in superhero movies. I think every single Spiderman (even the new one) has one, and I roll my eyes every single time.
Isn’t that kind of the point of Superheroes in general? Beyond the entertainment value I mean.
I didn’t mind it in those pictures, but will admit that SUPERMAN II is kinda pathetic: “They killed Superman! Let’s go get 'em!”
