Personally I have mixed feelings about the argument and lean against wholesale banning if it can be avoided, but I think the post I quoted above shows why some folks feel the way they do.

I guess this is the place for righteous outrage, but is it the place for assumed outrage? It’s a terrible story, no doubt, but not unlike a dozen or so other terrible stories to hit the newswire each day. If the OP wants us to examine this story particular in detail, and share in his/her shock and horror, shouldn’t the OP have the courtesy write a bit about their shock and horror? I think it’s a fair thing to ask for, and then we can avoid all the idiots decrying criticism of an anorexic OP as lack of empathy for the people, furry little critters, or whatnot being murdered, sautéed, or fricasseed in the news item.

Maybe we should have a new forum? Rather than the Pit, we could have The Latest and Outragest or something. There, we could all try to outdo each other in discovering and posting the latest Child-Molester-Microwaves-Kittens-While-Fellating-Jack-Chick stories.

He and the other almost-jr-mods could start threads for each other to take nice smelly dumps in, and leave the pit and other forums for people who have the minimum amount of brainpower to avoid threads that are clearly titled and can obviously be avoided if one has no interest in them.
