Man why did I forget about french toast on weekends?

It used to be one of my weekend staples. So fast so good. But for some reason I stopped making it. I don’t know why, it just slipped out of my consciousness and I probably haven’t made it in over a year.

But for some reason I woke up early at 5 this morning, unable to sleep because of a massive craving for French toast.

So I made some, and damn it was good. And I didn’t even have real french toast bread, or real maple syrup, cream, or even half-n-half. All I had was eggs, Home-pride all-grain, 2% milk, Aunt Jemina syrup, butter and cinnamon. I probably could have eaten 20 pieces, it was just so utterly superior to my usual breakfasts.

So if you haven’t had French toast in a while, have some, it’s yummy happy food.

Oh now I want some French Toast.

I use Blueberry Muffin Mix made into a loaf for French Toast. Added happiness.

I like the french toast a at a local restaurant that they make with thick slices of Italian bread.

I stopped because at some point we just stopped always having bread on hand and I’m never in the mood to go get any just for breakfast. And when we do have bread it sends to be hard crust “artisanal” stuff that I don’t think makes for good (definition: what I grew up eating, which was one step up from Wonder Bread) French toast.

Though now that I think about it we generally don’t have eggs, either. So that would probably be another problem (but when we do they’d be the kind that work well for French toast).

OK, I think that’s what I’m having for lunch. French toast made with some vanilla extract and lots of cinnamon in the egg mix.

I prepared with real maple syrup, good bread I could slice think, and cream for this weekend. even better.
