That’s the news as reported by the BBC:
On the one hand, poor woman – not only she’s got HIV, but on top of it she has been raped.
On the other hand, if he ends up getting infected, that would be one of the best real-life examples of instant karma I’ve ever seen.
Except that, presumably, he’s the sort of guy who will think nothing of having unprotected sex whenever he feels like it in the future.
That may as well be, but I think that we can take a small measure of comfort in knowing that this guy has been in the news, his photo has been shown to the public (here, for instance), and his name has been made known.
There is therefore a non-zero chance that, in the future, he may be recognized before something happens.
Isn’t it supposed to be pretty highly unlikely for a man to get HIV from PIV sex?

You’d think “I have HIV” would be a pretty good get out of rape free card.
But she awoke to find him already in the act. It seems to me, her keeping silent is appropriate vengeance, but what if he had gotten away with the act and not been caught?
Unless he says, “Who cares? So do I!”
It probably wouldn’t even believe her. I mean, it’s one of the things they tell you to say to rapist in hopes he won’t rape you.
Yeah. You’d think his body would have ways of shutting that down.
