No; that was real.
Give her a break. She’s no more an expert on firearms than she is on anything.
I’ve seen reports that there was a camera set up in the room, possibly filming the bad guy. I’m interested to see if he recorded any statement or explanation for his actions.
Which is exactly why she shouldn’t be tweeting about it or commenting on it. She’s completely ignorant on the subject.
Exhibit A, your Honor
Are you claiming I gave “a withering rant about how the usage of the wrong term negates the entire argument”? Because that’s not at all what I did. Go back and re-read post #240 if you’re still confused.
Same reason we don’t need Trump to even feign concern by showing up for a photo op. He’s way more ignorant about these matters than Clinton, and probably stopped giving a damn once he found out the shooter wasn’t a black Muslim.
I think he meant my argument.
To China Guy No, no. Not a rant. Those are facts. It is about her tweeting about something at an inappropriate time frame. If she is going to do it, she can at least educate herself a little first. The point is, her argument is largely invalid because using such a device on a firearm doesn’t make the little “phew” noise she thinks it does. The shooter would have still been discovered quickly.
Where did I say anything about a “good guy with a gun”?
Normal rifles, even assault rifles, aren’t designed for sustained automatic fire. They will overheat and eventually malfunction and catch on fire. Actual machine guns will have heavier barrels, and are usually designed so the barrel can be changed quickly when it gets hot.

But we all mostly knew this anyway.
We all mostly knew that a CCW isn’t a magical talisman that instantly fixes every possible situation? Or that there might be situations where engaging a threat with a handgun is not the optimal solution? Yes, I suppose we did all mostly know that anyways.
Do we all mostly know that there are also situations where CCWs are used to save lives?
So, here’s something that I don’t see an explanation of. From what I’ve read, the shooting begins just after 10:00 pm. He fires for 10 to 15 minutes. The police breach his hotel room door around 11:20 pm. (My recollection on times is confirmed by wikipedia).
Unless I’m confused, we have a whole hour unaccounted for. What’s going on in this timeframe?
…thanks for completely 100% agreeing with me.
I’m aware of the anecdotes, the talking points and the misleading data, as they are trotted out every time a mass shooting takes place. But please, by all means, trot them out again.
Not at all surprised that the Amoral Right, once again in a situation where their beliefs and actions lay waste to another 500 people, turned to whining about Hillary Clinton.
Indeed. Dayton Ohio now allows patrons to keep concealed carry weapons in their cars on the parking facilities, but does not permit them in the library itself, which is a crying shame.
There’s nowhere where one needs a pistol or rifle more than in a public library; and I would hate to borrow a book without a gun in my hand.
No let’s not. Not in this thread.
I must be feeling generous because after two mods giving instructions to keep political jabs out of this, this probably deserves a warning. Knock it off.
This is about the events in Las Vegas and the information as it comes out. Go to a different thread for a gun control debate.
I am no longer feeling generous. Warnings start now.
To cause more panic? Either that or he didn’t want to take the time/didn’t have the time as this really was a short-time “plan”. They are not all that tough to get these days but its not like a firearm in general - buy and walk out with it. There are more forms and taxes and some guns need modification. A friend at the local club has one and between taking the money out of the bank for the purchase and popping his first round was about a year. You can get some basic information on the subject at:

I see in other posts that accuracy has been floated as a reason but given the weapon and distance involved I doubt that. I figure he really was just spraying rounds towards the tightest groupings of people rather than taking any kind of deliberate aim.
Pics from the shooters room
I was directed to this site wth my question: Have the names of the victims been published? I have a cousin who lives in Las Vegas with his wife and I have not been able to reach them. Has any information been released? Even Google is no help.
Public lists are incomplete, but here are some.
