Try the Las Vegas PD site. At the bottom there is a scrolling list of items, including information on a family reunification location. Since you are out of town, you will likely have to go make some phone calls, but I think this site will get you to the right place.
You might also try pinging Snowboarder Bo, who lives in LV. He may have access to the right information for you as well.
I would like to know what the hotel will be doing with the rooms. Who the hell would want to stay in such an infamous room? Hell, the hotel itself is kind of fucked.
In what context are you using the term? Police can request a cellphone company to ping a phone of someone if there are immediate exigent circumstances otherwise a warrant is needed. I don’t know any phone company that will do it at the request of a private citizen.
The number I’ve seen to call about possible missing relatives is 1-800-536-9488. Try that first.
No doubt it will take a short term hit but that won’t last. It’s a great hotel. It has 3,300 rooms in multiple towers. They could stop renting that entire floor probably without much of a hit on their bottom line. That’s what I would do.
Probably turn it into a broom closet. Or remodel the floor dividing up this and other rooms.
They’ll survive. In a few years time they will be pestered by a few nutcases wanting to stay in that room.
“Ping” in a colloquial 21st century context just means a way to contact someone. It can be an email, a text message, an IM, a shoutout in a thread, whatever. “Give him a ping” or “Ping him” means the same as “give him a shout” or simply “reach out to him.” It can also be analogous to a “poke” from the Myspace days.
They’ll kinda have to shut down that floor in that wing, at least for a goodly period. Crime scene, then clean-up and window replacement, followed by remodel and reopening maybe a year or so down the line.
Far simpler than all that: just click on the username in one of their posts, a menu will pop out, showing “Send So&So a private message”. How much easier can it get?
Dougy Monty Try the phone number that Loach posted. Exactly the type of information I was trying to point you towards on the LVMPD website. If you’d like to reach out to Snowboarder Bo, which I also mentioned, to see if there are other suggestions being made locally, then pulykamell has good directions for how to send a PM. If you need help, post on the thread and one of us will help you further. Good luck to you and your family.
I have used the User Control Panel and sent a message to Snowboarder Bo. And I did call the phone number; other than that, and scanning the Home column on Facebook (I have been on Facebook for quite a few years) there is really nothing I can do.
