Mandela effect: Jim Morrison - Rolling Stone cover

I have long believed that the Rolling Stone cover about Jim Morrison that said “He’s hot, he’s sexy and he’s dead” was published shortly after he died, and that people actually found out about his death for the first time from this cover. Well, apparently I was wrong this whole time! It was published in 1981 as a tenth anniversary commemoration. Did anyone else have this false impression that it was a 1971 cover?

The headline wouldn’t have made much sense in 1971. It was a reflection of the fact that Morrison’s popularity increased after his death and that wouldn’t have been known at the time of his death.

My belief (until today) was that news traveled slower in those days, so people actually found out about Morrison’s death from the shocking headline.

I’ve seen the graphic before and wouldn’t have assumed it was 10 years old.

He died exactly 49 years ago, the same day Julian Assange was born.

I’ve noticed some Morrison criticism lately. Crosby slagged him off on Twitter… and Ronstadt was critical of him during her documentary. I think harmonic singers find him … well not very good…

Crosby seems obsessed with Jim… Mentions him every time he can. On Twitter, in his documentary, even wrote a song called “Morrison”
