Mango Sorbet

I used to have a mango sorbet recipe that did not require an ice cream freezer. It basically involved semi-freezing chunks of mango then whomping them in the food processor. What I can’t remember is whether or not anything was added to the frozen mango during the whomping phase. Orange juice kind of comes to mind, but maybe it was lime juice. Or maybe not.

I also sort of recall this being a recipe in one of the Silver Palate cookbooks, but I’m not sure (and I’m not home, so I can’t check.)

If anyone has a recipe that sounds kind of like what I’m talking about, please give me it. Mangoes are on sale at Kroger for 89 cents and sorbet must be made!

I don’t have a recipe, but I regularly buy frozen mango chunks. I leave some in the food process for maybe 15 minutes so that they are not quite so solid, then I purée them into a sorbet-like consistency. Yummy! Less sweet than a regular sorbet.

You could cut them into chunks and then mostly freeze them and do the same.
