Holy shit! Right now, a man has set himself on fire outside the courthouse!
This … is un-be-fucking-liev-able.
Where do you see that?
just unbelievable. security put the fire out.
msnbc.
CNN coverage.
Note that my last was not directed to Euphonious Polemic.
Laura Coates on CNN is saying that she can smell burning flesh. Fire extinguishers have been deployed, many police on scene. Trying to extinguish flames. Arms engulfed in flames. FDNY on scene, ambulance present.
Fire extinguished. No idea whether person alive. Coates can smell accelerant. Authorities trying to help person; no idea if person is alive.
I didn’t see it. At least there was no smoking in the courtroom.
You wouldn’t have seen it. After a few seconds of showing flames, CNN kept cameras on Coates and Evan Perez, who described the scene.
I’m not watching live coverage. I meant I didn’t “see it” in a Google search. As usual, the Dope trumps the media!
Ah, gotcha.
CNN has gone to commercial.
“We’ll be right back to let you know more about this self-immolation after these messages.”
Yeesh!
Just caught that on CNN. Jesus Christ.
the person was moving when taken to hospital. good lord that person is going to have a horrific recovery ahead.
msnbc said the flames went very high, nearly 20 feet.
I’m speculating that this is nothing to do with Trump but is rather a protest about Gaza which isn’t getting nearly as much media attention right now because of this trial. I can’t see even the most die-hard Trump fans immolating themselves on his behalf.
Should we start a new thread about the fire guy?
That’s a good guess. A protest right where it will be captured by so many news agencies.
A new thread is a good idea.
CNN: It was indeed a matter of self-immolation; that’s confirmed. But they seem hesitant to say more as to what it was in response to (Trump case, Gaza, etc.). They obviously don’t know, which is fine. I’d rather they say nothing, and not speculate.
It’s reported he threw pamphlets in the air just before doing it. I imagine the motive is in the pamphlets.
CNN: Sandoval hearing this afternoon. This will determine whether Trump’s prior legal history (e.g. Carroll decision) can be included in this matter, especially since there is a possibility that he will testify.
Now that the trial has started, is delay still the desired approach? Every day he has to sit in court is a day he can’t be campaigning.
“NYU is a mob front,” so apparently not related to this trial?
