Manifest (new NBC paranormal series)

I totally agree that was stupid and poorly handled, but that type of thing can be good if done well.

My favorite bit of the first Independence Day was when the pilots are being recruited to fight aliens they can see in giant ships in the sky, and then Randy Quaid’s character starts talking about being abducted and they all start rolling their eyes.

I really enjoyed this weeks episode. Glad to see Vance is shifting to the other side. The previews for next week look very interesting.

I am puzzled by the mind link lady. It’s not clear yet if she’s being duped or is a part of the experiments.

The show is getting a lot of attention. Ratings seem good. Hopefully it’ll get a season 2.

I just want to know where they went for 5 1/2 years, and why. Yeah, I know they’re getting to that, but still…folds arms and taps foot…

This reviewer has a good guess. It’s as good an explanation I’ve seen. It’s towards the bottom of the article.

It’ll take awhile to find out what happened on the plane. They want this show to go a few seasons.

I also suspect that the apolitical nature of the show is because it was proposed many years ago, and rejected over and over again until NBC finally picked it up.

I’m about ready to bail on the show. Basically, I wanted an SFy show, so all the other ‘features’ that article talked about – the cop show and doctor show and conspiracy show and family trauma show – are things to suffer through while muttering ‘get on with it.’ :frowning:

Yep. Especially the family drama show.

Monday night, they aired the last episode until January 7th, and it left multiple cliffhangers and plot twists. Among other things, Vance is dead.

Next year, maybe we’ll find out more.

Oh man. Just when I started liking the character he gets killed off.

:frowning:

I’m sure that will be addressed big-time in future episodes.

I like how they addressed Ben and Grace’s marriage. For him, it’s been a few days. For her, it was five years and she buried her son. That’s a big chasm to cross. Especially since they showed Cal’s return to school as fairly smooth.

So Autumn is a mole. But if the head of Singularity is dead (he’s the one who handed her the burner) who is she texting?

I REALLY don’t want Michaela and Jared to get together. He’s moved on, and I don’t like that Lourdes is being pushed to the side.

Reported dead is not necessarily dead. In fact, “I saw him alive being put into an ambulance” and later “Oh, he didn’t make it” probably equals “Certainly not dead”

True, especially on this program.

The series resumed last night. Good episode with plenty of twists, which I won’t give away for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.

Aunt Mickie has an interesting way of pronouncing “HOME-aside”. I dunno where the actress is from but, damn, couldn’t the director of the episode take her aside and explain that’s not how normal people say the word homicide, at least not in most of America, and certainly not in NYC where the character is supposed to be from. Took me way more out of the episode than her eyebrows ever could.

There were some serious issues:

  1. The internet Flight 828 hater guy had NO way of knowing the armored car guy was like the 828ers. Only a few even suspected that, and it wasn’t even confirmed until the Doc got her tests back and only a few know about the blood.

  2. Even if he walks on murder there’s still bank robbery, stealing a electric co van, and violating parole.

  3. How did that patrol guy think the cave dude was breaking in? He had no burglar tools.

  4. Mick and co know the cave guys last name, why not just look him up or tell her partner?

Too many damn holes.

So, did anyone else see tonight’s episode?

If you haven’t, or even if you have, it can be summed up this way: Wow, that was weird.

Thank you for not spoiling it. Altho certainly this isnt a “no spoiler” zone, on the nite of the broadcast it’s better to be careful.

Weird is an understatement.

Genuine spoiler:

Whaddya bet Grace’s pregnancy will last 8 months, 28 days?
