Obviously, inspired by this thread (and the ones that followed).
I liked the idea, and wanted to do it with a different artist, but a lot of the musicians/bands I really considered either didn’t have a big enough catalogue (The Clash, The Replacements), were too obscure to get a lot of votes (Husker Du, Robyn Hitchcock), or bored me (Rolling Stones, U2). So I settled on R.E.M. in the hopes that enough people were familiar with their work to make this interesting. Rules are the same as in the other thread (copied and pasted here):
–In each round, match-ups will be deteremined by the seeding (Highest will play lowest, and so on). The final four will match up Bracket A with Bracket C, and Bracket B with Bracket D.
–In each match-up, vote for which song you personally enjoy more. Songs with the most votes move on to the next round. A tie will be broken with a coin flip by me.
–Voting will end for round 1 on Sunday, March 2 at 7:30 pm. If all goes according to plan, we will crown a champ on or around the evening of March 17.
–Feel free to make predictions.
My divisions were based pretty much only on chronological order, though I did try my best to match songs with a similar feel against each other. I also tried to pick popular songs I don’t particularly care for (“Everybody Hurts”, “Losing My Religion”), just to be fair. So here’s the first round:
