Marching along in the MMP

I was in marching band in high school. We had a very large band, usually around 200 people. We did all kinds of marching, notably, at Disney World and also the Cotton Bowl (don’t quote me on that one exactly) I know it was a long drive and I believe it was to Texas.

I’m on Spring Break this week and I’m trying to stay busy for the most part. Today I worked on laundry and dishes. Tomorrow I’m going to venture to the spare room upstairs and work on organizing it. That will be after my appointment at the dealership for a recall on my car.

My mom is doing about the same. I wish that there was something that I could do for her to make her feel better.

Howdy Y’all! I decided to go ahead and finish my homework. I am now all edjookatid for another three years. The poor Parish Administrator (who is also the other Verger) will have several emails tomorrow that say I have completed each module. The emails generate automajikally for each module. I have no idea what is done with the info, but I done did it all and that’s all I care about. Plus I also get the emails which will be archived in my sooper sekrete file of churchy stuff.

JtC since I have been righteous today perhaps I’ll surf pR0n whilst clothes hydrate and dehydrate.

The last time I did that it was very depressing. I was all “I can remember when I was that skinny” or “Dang, I sure do wish I could bend like that now”.

You are talking to her and making sure she knows you love her and want her to come home. That has to be the best motivator around.

Our cat-sitter just left. Their line is still down and she wanted to do homework and then watch TV and cuddle cats or that’s what she said. I think it might have something to do with her new jet-black hair and mom’s reaction to the sink, but what do I know?

I’m now positive that Hubs had a burger and beer while he was out yesterday, he’s really hurting now. I’m sad for him, he used to really enjoy those little things.

Maybe a cone of shame for him would help? :stuck_out_tongue:

It goes on your permanent record.

I just shared a bowl of popcorn with Nelson and now he’s requesting uppies.

Ms Peach is now being needy. Obviously tossing toys under furniture and then standing forlornly next to said item.

Late-Night final time. Got a few things done, collected a couple of Soccer coaching bags (balls, pinnies, pump, 1st aid kit, etc.) for coaches who could not make it, delivered one and holding the other for Thursday, then tried a Burger from Arby’s (it was OK, but probably won’t try it again) and did some more soccer stuff. Heading off to bed here shortly, tired and there is a spot on my lower right back that is aching somewhat fierce when I move, so hope I stop doing whatever I did to get it. Temperature is going down to 46F tonight so not quite ready to take off the heavyweight comforter.

Hippie, I am impressed.

Bright Tree, never been to New Orleans for Fat Tuesday, but it’s within a long day’s drive and sometimes I wonder…your adventures out West make me think I oughta one of these days.

Good God woman, don’t jinx me like that!! :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: But I have been checking every couple of days when I go 3-4 hours without using the water and so far, so good…

Bright Tree, glad things are going well (except taxes, albeit I just got the notice that my Ali-bama refund should be here in a couple days). And Ollie is a Jolly pup for sure!

Lily, glad life is going well for you. I doubt I have the patience to do a retreat like you did, but I am sure it was comforting.

JtC, surprised that you never floozied on a float (in or out of a parade) And sounds like the Dogs and Squirrels there have a non-agression pact…

Sticky Buns, need to schedule some house-irk for me once the home repair is done…and all you can do to make her feel better is day ‘I love you’ more often than you already do.

swampy, glad the training is done, best to get it over with while you can, IMHO.

And 10:20pm and groggy, so off to bed. Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

I tried to upload a recent photo, but it looks like I need to resize it first. It’s just a giant Ollie face. Will try to do that in the next few days.

He has finally learned recall – who knew the secret was half a peanut? – so he’s getting lots more off-leash freedom now. So long as he reliably comes when I call him, he can have a lot more unfettered outdoor play time. We’re both much happier about that! Although I must make sure to never turn my back on him if I have peanuts in my pocket. He’d ninja-assassinate me to get at them.

You called it, but I’m so sad to hear that just this one little indulgence is enough to kick off another gout attack. But you’re right – gout is its own self-discipline. My father suffered with it for years until he gave up alcohol and rich foods for good.

Sticky Buns, you’re a good daughter and you’re doing all you can for your mom. Don’t forget to take care of yourself during a difficult time.

LOL, metal mouse, I am confident that by putting your water pipes overhead instead of sunk in your concrete foundation, you are never going to be troubled with such problems again. I’m not worried about your sewage line. That’s just a drain pipe with no pressure behind it. They don’t break.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 46 degrees Ferret Height(7.778 Centipedes).

Spot is never allowed, because insomnia and 0300 Zoomies are a bad combo.

Pr0n give young people an realistic expectation on how fast the plumber will actually show up at your house.

I don’t have allergies, I just make the occasion parody song.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and cloudy. Weather app is unimpressed and tell me “Stratus clouds are known for producing fucking rain or snow. They are also knobjockey twatfaces.”

Nuts I’m glad the wedding went well but sorry to hear new sis-in-law is already being a pain.

They sound like good guys, and definitely ones to keep hold of!

If it’s more of a sprat to catch a mackerel, you’ll find those prices go up again once they’ve secured your membership, but there are bound to be other deals along the way to keep you sweet.

Not much good if you were making something that required a complete length of fabric though :frowning:

Pavo hope you feel better soon!

doggio glad to hear Roomie’s knee is in good shape too.

That’s good to hear, one thing you won’t need to worry about while you are off on your travels. We used to put the cats in a local moggery that always sent them back a little heavier than they arrived  Sadly the business was a victim of Covid, and after that we tried a couple of other places but didn’t really like them, and now have our Kitty Angels ladies who come to the house instead.

That sounds perfect - both peaceful and productive. A break from the madness of the internet is good for the soul.

Sorry to hear that, Troublesome Minion has gout and insists on coming to the office on her scheduled days when I don’t think she’s even safe to be in the car. Stubborn fool will not listen.

I am sorry that it’s so difficult, but just being there and talking to her whether it’s in person or by phone will lift her spirits.

Yesterday was an uneventful work day, I found some problems and fixed them so that’s a bonus. After irk, I pottered for a bit and fed the cats before heading to the gym for Amani’s cycle revolution class. Home for dinner, then I collected up all the rubbish and took it all out before hauling the biiiiig bin to the kerb for today’s collection. No sign of the dustcart yet though.

Today I have one meeting, and lots of non-work things to do like laundry and campus food prep. I haven’t quite decided what I want for food yet, I’ve got some chicken that needs to be cooked, then I might have salad for a change, or maybe veggies with it, or rice. Also have no idea what I want for dinner tonight!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 73 and partly cloudy. We’re havin’ a little bit of a cooldown. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. I can hardly contain myself. OYKW has a doc and vampire appointment at eight-thirty and will grab a McBreakfast afterwards as he will be hongry. The usual sloth is on the agenda as well. Sup is leftovers from last night.

red I wonder how much bandwidth my permanent record takes up. When it was all paper it took up at least three warehouses.

Sticky_Buns ISTM you are doin’ all you can for your mom right now. She knows you love her and want her to come home. Hope you build in some fun time for yourself while on Spring break.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, clothin’ etc. must get hydrated and dehydrated! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Next step is tucking them up your sleeves.

I can’t even imagine. FIL’s dementia didn’t get really bad till his last 2 years. Ten years of it would have been sheer hell!

Today started at 35 Ferrets, so we didn’t quite get the threatened freeze. I’m sure the new blooms are happy. We need to get showered and dressed in a little bit - our appointment to get shot is at 9, plus FCD has meds to pick up, at the same CVS, so there’s that. We’ll also be passing the credit union and our surprise checks will either be deposited or cashed for fun money.

I got all the table curtains done yesterday, so today FCD will make a few minor alterations to the tables and we’ll hang them all. Pics will follow. Then I think the rest of my day will be dedicated to sorting, shredding, and trashing. I have 3 boxes of assorted stuff. Some will go on Marketplace, some will be donated, the rest is destined for disposal. With luck, it’ll only take a couple-three hours to go thru it all. A good indoor project on a day that may not get out of the 40s.

And so it shall go. Happy Tuesday!!

Mr. brown is also subject to gout. The last two episodes were preceded by his surreptitious drinking of whiskey in the garage. The bouts are extraordinarily painful and lay him up for a week. The last time, I had to go out and buy a wheely-walker so that he could get from the bed to the bathroom. After each bout, he lays off the whiskey for awhile, but as time goes by without an episode, he starts up again. He doesn’t want to admit the cause, but instead attributes gout to “men have to do all the hard physical work, so that’s why we get gout more often.” Won’t go to the doctor, either.

Hey, now that we’re talking about it, I remember that kayaker also got gout, but refused point-blank to give up beer, despite his doctor’s advice. Got pretty militant about it, too. I wonder how he’s doing nowadays.

I’ve got the post-vax ick today so I’m going to lie low and treat myself to a second cup of tea. Lunch and maybe breakfast will be take-out that Mr. brown will bring home. Hopefully I’ll be running on all cylinders by this afternoon.

Morning all. Stayed in bed until 7am today, so should be fairly well-rested. Lower back is still sending pain signals when I stand up from sitting to long, but it seems to be a bit better today. Weather is clear, sunny and heading to 71F, so a nice spring day. Will be working more soccer issues and awaiting the handyman for a repair look-see and then the afternoon will be–whatever.

Bright Tree, thanks for the vote of confidence. And glad Ollie and you can enjoy the outdoors together more freely.

FCM, hope the shots are painless as is the banking. Just checked this morning and my State tax refund is in the account, so yay for that.

Never been diagnosed for gout and have no family history that I am aware of it being in the family, so hopefully that will be one curse I will avoid, based on the comments from Mumpers.

Lucky, hope the ick becomes ick-less later today.

And that’s the morning report. Catch y’all later.

Good Morning, Mumpers! The threesome walked this morning. Chloé has grown impatient with me getting her harness and light vest on. Why the hell am I wasting her time, when Primary Human is right outside that door?

I finished up taxes last night. I which H&R Block software would allow me to just skip the itemization steps. We only have a couple of years left on our mortgage term, there is no way in hell we’ll ever deduct more than the standard deduction again. That reminds me. I need to fix my W-4 for work. Fang is no longer a dependent. I only claimed him last year because he didn’t become the Army’s problem officially until mid-July. We’re proud of him and are counting him as a successful launch. One down and two to go.

I finished watching Will & Harper last night. It makes me nervous about the road I’m on, and I’m still scared that Mrs Magill won’t be able to join me on it. I think that is my biggest stumbling block. I am still seriously contemplating starting GAHT in September, when this clinical trial I’m participating in is over. The hope is that will take care of the lion’s share of the dysphoria. I know I sound like a broken record, but writing it out helps a bit, and I suck at journaling.

Hockey mask optional?

Not where doggio lives. Raleigh has professional level allergies. When we were living in Charlotte, I used to laugh at the northern transplants complaining about the allergies. I thought Charlotte felt like a vacation, with only four weeks in the spring and three in the fall. Speaking of allergies. They’re starting up here in middle Tennessee. They’re not Raleigh levels, but are worse than Charlotte.

Just beautiful, little whisps in the woods for a couple of weeks in the spring. Driving by Umstead Park in the spring is the only thing I miss about working in RTP.

Just keep in mind that peanuts are legumes and have the same effect on a small dog as a hearty bowl of pintos do on humans.

I hope that your hubby is feeling better, JtC.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The only thing on the agenda today is making the menu and grocery list out.

With all of this talk of gout, that’s part of what my toe owie is. Gout can cause blisters on your feet and as a diabetic, those are concerning (I’ve already lost half a toe on the other foot to this). For those of you or your spouses who suffer from it, take care of your feet.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

One of my sisters has dealt with gout. This would be the sister whose FB feed is full of what she’s drinking or where she’s drinking. Hmmmmm

We’ve been shot and we’re home now. I sorted thru a box of the late in-laws’ tax returns - going back 26 years!!! Far too many of the records consisted of copies of the returns tucked into that year’s instructions and rolled tightly, bound with masking tape. All the instructions went into recycling and the returns were more or less flattened, then fed into the shredder. All that remains are BIL’s assorted papers. His old rent receipts can be tossed. But I’ll set aside the tax returns for at least the last 7 years - that’s the requirement, right?

Then on to the next box, and at least one more after that.

We got the curtains all hung under the table and I need to make a few more shorter panels for some gaps. So that’ll happen after the box sortage. Good times ahead!!

Good morning.

It’s 44F and raining outside. The morning will be steady rain, easing to showers by afternoon, with a daytime high of 54F.

Bright Tree, good to see you and read of Ollie’s exploits!

Sticky Buns, thinking of you. You are doing the best you can, and deep down your mother knows it.

I laughed aloud at that!

Lily, yay for book sales and a good retreat. Good to see you here again.

Well, I don’t think my son got the house, and the one he wanted to offer on is pending sale. I personally think the one pending sale was better, but I don’t have to live there. When he placed the offer, there weren’t any others. I’ll probably ask him today.

We didn’t ride bikes, but I picked up poo, busted out the blower, raked up fir needles and branches, and managed to fill the compost bin. It’s now at the curb waiting for disposal. I was going to bust out the mower, too, but I think it needs a new spark plug. Frankly, I’d just like to get an Ego mower, but right now I don’t have room in the garage for both my current mower and an Ego mower. Until we can do the garage clean out, I am not buying more stuff. And, the cleanout won’t occur until after my husband’s surgery and until after his lifting restrictions are lifted.

I did my taxes on Friday or Saturday, I think. It wasn’t horrible, and I don’t have to pay. I’m glad they’re done.

JtC, sorry to hear about hubby’s gout pain.

Today’s chores consist of laundry and probably some rollsucking and dusting. I lead such an exciting life.

You all take care of yourselves. I’m going to finish my coffee and internet for a while longer.

we have 30 degree bounces in philly. today is starting as a clear cold bright day. friday is our next rain day.

getting ready for the new chair on friday. i have to move things around so the delivery crew can get the chair right into its spot. i’m getting the small “this should be put away” stuff done first before i start moving furniture out of the way. it is tricky moving furniture as i have to consider koritza. she is a climber and can use anything to get to somewhere else. that can result in things falling and breaking.

the new chair being round will have me trying to figure out what endtable, lamps, etc, can fit by it. that will be a fun time on friday.

Cheezy scrambled eggs this morning. Gotta make a grocery run later for a few things. I think we’ll have salmon for dinner. We’re back into the 40s in the great out-o’-doors. How’s that for a bunch of random crap?

All righty, then. Three boxes sorted and a bunch of miscellaneous electrical stuff listed on Marketplace and NextDoor. I have one more pile to divide between recycle and thrift store. I’m thinking most will be recycle.

Who knew sorting could be so exhausting?? And I still need to decide what to make for supper. Wonder if a meatloaf will thaw in time? Or maybe I’ll thaw it for tomorrow.

My life is such a trial!! < dramatic pose of woe and suffering >
