I spent (part) of the night on the deck on Murphy the air mattress; he let me down.
Murphys, being a good Irish name, can usually hold their liquor but this one can’t hold his air any more.
Other than that, I got nuthin’ but I noticed that there wasn’t a new MAP yet; now there is. Hijacks away.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. for the day. Even early official Autumn likes to act like Summer around these parts. I shall defilthyfy da cave today. Mowage shall be accomplished at some point this week. It must happen even though I am completely unmotivated to do so.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, cave cleanin’ shall commence! Rah.
No Indian summer here as it’s been in the 90s for 5 days and no frost in sight. Today I get my shingles shot and go to the dentist for a checkup. Fun ways to use a vacation day!
Blurf. After this post, I have to log off and work.
I finally got approved for the lower-back steroid injection. I can’t wait until Wednesday, when an anesthesiologist will stick a needle into my lower back. YAY!
I’m not being sarcastic at all. It really hurts. My back, I mean, not the injection. They give me IV valium or something before the injection, so I don’t much care what they’re doing to my back. And what doubly sucks is that it feels like a good back-crack would fix it, but it won’t crack. At all. It also feels as if hanging upside-down like a bat would fix it by stretching my spine out.
Sigh. I should get an MRI as well, but that is also more boring insurance stuff.
History: I fell off a horse and landed on asphalt in 1992. The back has been increasingly grouchy ever since. I once pulled it out of whack by picking up an empty laundry basket. Now it just randomly gets pissy, which is totally not fair. I lost quite a lot of weight and it should magically fix everything! Right? Right?
Morning y’all…going to the big city this fine day. Lil’wrekker has a dental appt. She will be headed back to school, afterwords! It is homecoming week for our locale…all kinda crap going down. I will be manning concession stands and help parade prep! Oh so much fun!! Busy week ahead!
I posted in the other one, so now it will die a quiet death.
Unless I kill this one too!
I didn’t tell you about our bike ride Saturday, did I?
They’re building a bypass road around our little town and the even littler town next door.
Well, Saturday they had a 5k run and then a walk and bike ride on (most of) the new road, for some reason. To show it off I suppose. Considering all the fussin’ and fightin’* about it for the last few years, we agreed that it wasn’t that impressive a road, but if it gets the trucks out of our downtown, it’ll be a good thing. We did notice that they left enough room to put in two more lanes. If they ever get the money. And permission.
Anyway, Wifey and I and a couple of our friends got on our bikes and rode over there and rode up and down the bypass. About 8 miles or so all told.
Now, our friends do this sort of thing a lot. Wifey and I haven’t been on our bikes for years. I did get them out of the shed friday and pump up the tires, but I didn’t adjust my seat, which I should have done. After 8 miles, I was sore. :o
But it was fun. There was even a couple of food trucks out there, and we had tacos for lunch. Good times.
*Most of the fussin’ and fightin’ has been from a group calling themselves ‘thousand friends of Oregon’, which sounds like it would be a a good thing, but mostly they seem to be against any development, of any kind, anywhere, regardless of whether it’s beneficial or not.
Plans for today include working on clearing out my storage locker some more. And that’s about it. I need a couple of things from the store, as usual, but that’s about it.
“Greaber” had fun with the Thorntownians about the weather this year; it was mid 90s and for the second year in a row none of the leaves had turned for the Festival of the Turning Leaves. His suggestion was for “you lazy English to get out the week before and paint some of the leaves”. We did see that some of the leaves back in PA were starting but I think that its from lack of oxygen.
Finished sanding the desk top and have parts under tension and glue. Tomorrow I may start the staining. Work today (and for a unknown period of time) starts at 6pm so it gives me a bigger shot at those Honey-Do things. I’ll be curious to see how well I adapt.
Da cave got spiffed and I even went to the :eek:Maul:eek: to try on some pants. I need some new pants as I’ve lost some weight on purpose. Then I came back to da cave and ordered said pants online from Belk’s (a southern dept. store chain) because I got a better deal online. However, I wasn’t sure of size so I tried on pants to make sure. So I shall have six new pairs of pants in the next few days. I also ordered some jeans. I have learned I really like this online shoppin’ stuff.
It’s been hotter than the actual summer here for the past few days. I’m in shorts. In Canada! in the autumn!
Going out in a few minutes to get some groceries and go for a walk, and hopefully not melt or die of heat exhaustion. Roomie and the shirtless guy are going to Ikea today, but the shirtless guy will have a shirt on. (He’s a lodger who stays with us in our apartment sometimes.)
Played in a couple of great concerts this past weekend.
Much to do today.
I should try swampy’s idea of ordering pants online once I know the size.
I got quite a bit of writing done. Now I need to decide if I want my heroine’s father to throw her over the fence into the witch’s back yard or just leave her sitting on the doorstep. Throwing her is more dramatic, but I already have the dialogue written for the abandonment version. Decisions, decisions.
This is for a retold version of Hansel & Gretel. This time the gingerbread is magic and no one gets shoved into an oven.
Green sallit, leftover unstuffded cabbage from Sattidy, and rolls for dindin. Good and no more leftovers.
Midget I prefer to try on pants first cause I’m never sure of the waist size even when I measure. Plus I can see the actual color of the slacks at the store. Sometimes what I think the color is online and what I get is different from what I thought. It’s never been horrible like I got lime green instead of dark blue but still I like the idea of knowin’ the actual color. Plus actually goin’ to :eek:The Maul:eek: got me out for a bit today which is good cause I seem to tend more and more toward bein’ a hermit these days.
Supper was shrimp salad with some veggies. It was good.
**FCD **is going to Ocala tomorrow. His dad is having surgery in the morning, and he’ll be there to help his folks out for a week or two. So I’ll be without adult supervision for a while.
Wait. Am I using “Indian summer” wrong? Isn’t that what it is? (Unless 90s in September is your normal climate). It’s unusually warm (summer-like) fall weather, isn’t it? It’s been brutal here in Chicago. Looks like we’re going to normal 70s on Wednesday, though. Hate this shit.
