swampy, I’m a big fan of try-em-on-first before purchasing clothing. Women’s clothing tends to be all over the map as far as size goes and not all cuts look good on me.
It was Monday, need I say more? The floor is vaccuumed and clothes are in the dryer. Supper was leftovers. I don’t think I’ll make the paprika chicken breasts with spinach again unless there is enough company to eat all of it. It was good when I made it, but didn’t reheat well. Oh well, the beet salad is still yummy.
Angry Wabbit I’m one week out from my back injection. I’ve broken my spinal fusion hardware, so the ol’ spine is acting up. I know how you feel. Good luck!
Ruble - Fall is right on time, or even early, here in Orygun. Trees are changing color and we’ve got flocks of migrating birds.
Bumba - sounds like a fun day. I’ve haven’t see a taco truck in a long time. Not sure I could ride my bike 8 miles either.
It was a quiet day here in Sunshine Village. The kids are both sick with something 'Beamer picked up at school. Pepper started the day by running around the house with her “Big Brother”'s food bowl, which was hilarious. Kona is now getting his revenge by hoarding her special friend (she has a stuffed animal). She is very concerned and whimpering. Trust me. It’s more of cute thing than a save her now thing.
I always thought that indian summer was a warm spell after the first frost.
My sweetie is packing - he’ll leave early tomorrow and he should get to Ocala by evening. I hate that he has to go, but he’s a good son and he needs to help out his folks.
I’ve got to get blood drawn on Friday, but I may go into the office for a little while that morning. We shall see how I feel when the time comes. We’re promised a cool weekend and I’m hoping to do some transplanting.
Anybody wanna come to my house this weekend and play in the dirt?!?
Oh, I thought you meant Injun Summer, the politically iffy cartoon by John T. McCutcheon, whose popularity drove Jean Shepherd’s Old Man from the Trib and into the arms of Borden. FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD by a local historian (we had Pottawatomi villages in our area) the Pottawatomi were the ones who used teepees and were considered morons by the local tribes who knew better how to protect themselves from our winters.
I’m outside Chi-town too. Indian summer is warm temps after a frost. And yes, I have a copy of “Injun Summer” that used to grace the Sunday Trib magazine cover.
It was a spur-of-the-moment thread/title. It’s 90° in late Sept; it ain’t gettin’ this warm again this year; therefore, I declare it Indian Summer. Are you saying I’m less right than a meteorologist? One day last week they gave us, “50% chance of scattered showers” That’s perfessunal speak for, “Dunno, mebbe.” :dubious:
So when you watch your local news tonight about some [del]nutjob[/del] elderly retired man walking thru a Jawjan maul in his unnerwear…that’s our Swampy!
Was you in the gold lamè thong…or the not-so-tighty whiteys today?
What do you call a Native American standing by the side of the road requesting a ride?
You know what the answer is going to be; don’t blame me if you click & don’t like it.Indian thumber!
Interesting. I didn’t grow up with such a specific definition (is that really a common definition?). It was just a patch of unusually warm weather once the typical 40-70F weather of fall settled in (like it did a few weeks ago.)
As for Indian Summer, I heard it’s technically supposed to be the after-the-frost definition, but I have also heard it used around here for any period of warm temperatures in autumn.
I took Pepper to the lake again. She likes water. I will have to take a video. She is very amusing. She was running in and out, and splashing and biting it. Very cute.
**FCD **woke a little after 4 and decided to get up and get going. So I got up too. he left for FL at 5 and I got to the office before 6. Gonna be a long day. Especially for him - even in ideal conditions, it’s about 13 hours to Ocala.
According to our weather guys, we just need to get thru today and tomorrow, then the cool weather returns. I’m looking forward to opening the house again. I’m also hoping to finish my transplanting this weekend, and I might get a flat of pansies for the planters on the porch and the deck.
Meanwhile, I need to get thru 3 days. Happy Tuesday!!
And maybe he won’t be going to Ocala. MIL called **FCD **to say the hospital won’t accept their insurance and they can’t get anything resolved till they see the doctor some time after 8. **FCD **is still driving, but he may turn around and come home if the surgery won’t happen till next week or whatever.
Yep, Congress has done a helluva job with health insurance… I know this isn’t directly related to the insanity in DC, but honestly, there’s no excuse for the ridiculous way our health care and insurance work in this country. Well, except for greed. grrrrrrrrrrr
