I certainly have no intention of betting. I’m just wondering about odds. There are probably people who would bet on this. People who bet will bet on anything.
I bet you’re right.
I rest my case.
It was really quiet at the Capitol Hill today. Wonder when the Guard will get to go home and they clean up the place?
Well, when domestic terrorists stop presenting a credible threat of further attempts at violent insurrection, I guess.
But it’s my understanding that the government has already embarked on cleaning up the approximately $30 million worth of damage that the Jan. 6 insurrectionists caused to the Capitol.
That’s when you get the rival claimants to inheriting the mantle. Though who would be the Sunni and Shia in the Trumpian succession, I wouldn’t know.
The past tense makes this sentiment a lot easier to make. Congratulations.
I agree with you. I think we need to keep January 6th in the front and center of the public consciousness, and the shutdown was a good reminder of the horrors of that day.
Just woke up… did Trump get 'magaurated?
Bill them, and bill trump. Make everyone convicted of any crime connected to the Jan 6th insurrection pay a share of that or rot in jail.
A.k.a. the Golden Ass. Bow down, all you CPAC attendees!
I’ve seen it suggested that Trump is really the Antichrist. I tried to find a list of attributes of the Antichrist to see how many boxes Trump ticks, but there doesn’t seem to be one.
I got a fair number of pages by googling “antichrist checklist.”
Of course, a significant number of them are hosted by evangelical sources that misread the concept of “antichrist” to mean “when the epic battle comes, to end the material world and launch God’s kingdom, the Antichrist will be the leader of the demonic forces,” or whatever. Whereas in the original theology it wasn’t “the” Antichrist, singular, but rather more conceptual and generalized, i.e. “an” antichrist as a being who embodies the opposite of Christ’s characteristics. In principle there can be many possible antichrists, and their unifying characteristic is that they all lead the weak believer astray from the true path.
Well, to be fair that should be worth a day or two off his sentence.
Were there any gatherings in DC on the 4th? I didn’t hear about any.
Gatherings? I’m sure there were gatherings in DC on the 4th. Right wing riots? No. Congress was closed that day. I guess that means that Republicans won, by tricking everyone into being cautious about that day. Way to go, Republicans!

I understand (more or less) the claim that all subsequent presidents have been illegitimate. But then what makes Trump legitimate?
That’s where MAGA! comes in. It’s like a magic word, only more of a concept. Kind of like how calling something fake nullifies it.
Won’t someone think of the Muffins?!!
Probably the same thought process which considers the election of Biden illegitimate but considers the election of Republican congresspeople on the same ballots legitimate.
