marcmcroy, you will not find what you're looking for here.

Between this guy and Esco (the one that spends WAY too much time thinking about naked guys in locker rooms) I’m getting a lot of laughs from the dope this week.

Less poetically, but probably more accurately, it’s poking a monkey with a stick while it flings poo at you.

Um, nooooo…

Most trolls are listening to you squeal as you try to argue with the wind.

How is that any less poetic?

I actually agree, but I also come with something else.

To me dealing with guys like him is a good way to learn, really, I do not obsess or have special knowledge of many subjects, but I have found that one can learn a lot by identifying good sources.

Many times the interactions with fellows like the one here are very good for this, it is really not too hard to figure out what are the good sources and it is good to go meta on them as one can notice the unchanging and contradictory nature of the cites they rely on. Good information IMHO to keep in record when the inevitable happens and you find people seeking office (or worse, when they are already in office) that spout those shibboleths. Or to deal with friends and family that could come with that nonsense.

Of course, there is a limit and even I do pull back once the rotten sources are identified or the poster goes for the now classic “you are following a religion” point that pseudo scientists like to use against scientists.

I can’t figure out which answer is less creepy!

Ooh, that’s the best kind!

You spelled “edumacation” wrong.

He was searching Alta Vista? More like summer 1997.

No, trolls only think they’ve mastered the game.

They think they’re only pretending to be assholes. They don’t realize that anyone who would pretend to be an asshole actually is an asshole.

What I’d like to know is where this would-be FOTL is getting the power for his computer, let alone his internet access.

I can understand mockery and derision, but I don’t get why people are arguing with him. He’s the economic equivalent of lekatt.

Anyone can post for nothing from a public library. If his principles allow him to enter a government building.

Yep – just go and hang out at Free Republic. If this guy’s a troll, then FR’s full of 'em. We don’t get as many wackos as we used to – it’s harmless and it’s amusing.

Most trolls nowadays tend towards the big, dramatic sob stories, kind of like umkay. Yet Dopers fall for that ALL THE TIME. People with big glurgy stories like that are much more likely to be trolls than some conspiracy theorist.

Congratulations! You may now turn in a name-change request for John DiSage.

I followed the thread in question, and I have to say to all of you … shut up! We cannot let others in on this.

I mean, I wrote “Accepted for Value” on all my bills due at the end of June (in blue, at a 45-degree angle, and with my thumbprint on a postage stamp), and mailed them back. The cop who issued me a speeding ticket used the strawman name the Government Corporation issued me at berth, so I won’t have to pay it. Even if I find myself in court, I won’t accept the contract it offers, and I’ll ask the judge for his or her oath.

I did send my Notice of Understanding and Claim of Right to the Prime Minister of Canada, Queen Elizabeth II, the Governor-General of Canada, the Premier of my province, and the Mayor of my city; as well as to the US President (after all, Canada is a subsidiary corporation of the United States of America Inc.). Nobody replied, so I’ve established a unilateral contract under my fee schedule, and they’ll owe me big bucks if I’m stopped or detained by a cop again. I’ve read Black’s Law Dictionary (2nd edition), and the Magna Carta, so I’m prepared.

But wil cannot let marcmcroy in on the great secret we all know. So shut up, all of you!

Oh crap, did I just say all that out loud?

See, this is the trick. It is a very incomplete and Stupidity based understanding of the Illusion of the World.

The World (not the physical world, but the World of Man) is an illusion. It is a shared illusion created by all of us and our ancestors, handed down from generation to generation, growing and changing with each and with our accumulated knowledge and advances. We say that X is X because we believe it to be so, even if our ancestors didn’t think so, even if our descendents won’t think so. It’s part of our shared illusion. Gay marriage laws, age of consent, slavery, prohibition, equalities and freedoms, social conventions and customs, laws and mores. All are part of this shared illusion that creates the world we live in.

The Sovereign Citizens see this dimly. They think it is consent based when that is only partially true. They preach a warped and limited view that says “I didn’t consent to be a part of this Shared Illusion, so I’m going to create my own. I will use this set of Magic Words to confound The Order and earn my freedom to follow my own Illusion.”

And of course, this doesn’t work. Because the Illusion of the World, while being something you can see through and understand, isn’t something you can still be a part of, yet opt out of. There are consequences for attempting to do so, which the Sovereign Citizens fail to understand. There are no magic words, there are no loop holes built into the system. If there were, it would imply that the system was created by those who are fully aware of it’s nature. When the fact is that it is created, maintained and changed every day by all of the people who live within it and have done so since they day they were born. Most of whom don’t even have a clue that it is an illusion, a construct.

And the only reason we die is because we accept it as an inevitability.

I’m wondering how he’ll take the death of Alta Vista. It’s been a decade in the making, but it’s finally dying the true death.

Now to figure out the odds he’ll spin it into some kind of conspiracy by an illegitimate federal government rather than market forces at play in a competitive environment…

Death isn’t an illusion. Everything dies. Every. Thing. Hell, they say even protons appear to have a half-life.

I’m sorry to say there’s a chance he believes this Freeman stuff. A lot of people do. And that God talks to him. That doesn’t surprise me. What surprises me is how many folks here tried to reason with him. I’d rather try to reason with my cat. It’d be more satisfactory for me, anyway.

Yeah, the multiple pages of trying to get someone to address simple logical flaws in one’s argument get to be a bit much. They didn’t address them on page 2,3,4,5,6,7… They’re not going to do it on page 214.

But the same goes for any other multi-page argument on this board.
