Very very sad news.
When I was in college, we were playing a jazz festival in Idaho and McPartland was one of the guest performers. We were staying in the same hotel as the festival guests and she came past us in the hallway while we were sitting outside our rooms socializing. She invited us to coffee but we were all too shy/starstruck/whatever so we said no thank you. I really wish I’d taken her up on the offer.

She was DAZZLING. I loved her radio program. It was mind-blowing the way she could play anything with anyone. Such a gracious radio hostess and a lovely woman.
I read her biography a few months ago. Quite an interesting life she had.
I was sorry to hear that news. She was a great pianist and she hosted a wonderful show, everyone from Willie Nelson to Wynton Marsalis.
