Wasn’t Marina Sirtis abused by her father? That might explain her passion for the subject, if not excuse her debating abilities.
“Remove your clothing, ensign.”
Uhm…your neutreno’s are drifting.
Kes was **so much fucking hotter than 7o’9 ** (except during Kes’ long hair phase - not a good look).
I notice this on many shows - why is it they make the (female) sex symbol the one who is not the hottest?
Examples: Cheers - Lillith(Bebe Neuwirth) - waay hotter than Kirstie Ally
All the new Star Treks - Crusher over Troi, Kira over Dax, and Kes over 7 of 9.
Xena - Gabrielle over Xena.
Am I just out of the mainstream about what is attractive, or are people in Hollywood just morons?
Sua
Thanks, SuaSponte!
<blissfully imagines Crusher over Troi, Kira over Dax, Kes over 7 of 9, Gabrielle over Xena…>
I’m reading the transcript.
I didn’t see PI, but it’s no surpise that she’s an idiot. I mean, look at the show/movies. First time she gets to drive the damn ship, she blows half of it up and crashes the rest into a planet!
I am shocked, shocked, to learn that some hollywood actresses are idiots. I always thought Marina Sirtis, Demi Moore, Kim Basinger, and Pamela Lee spent their free time discussing differential topology and reading Ulysses.
For those complaining that they missed Gaffin, as Blunt pointed out, You didn’t miss much. No one, not Gaffin nor Sommers, managed to get a word in edgewise.
Ironically, since Gaffin is pretty P.C. himself, he probably would have done a better job of arguing a pro-feminist position than Sirtis
I’m glad to see the transcript of the show so I can remember just how annoying Sirtis was, thanks Sterling. Now I have her dumb ass opinions right in front of me in black and white. Although I thought almost all of what she said was down right ridiculous, the main reason I consider her an idiot is the way she presented herself and her rudeness while trying to monopolize the show. Her lack of intellegence/common sense/politeness came through in the transcript a little, but to fully appreciate it you had to see the show. Graffin was probably the most educated person on the show, and he was educated in areas related to the topic being discussed, but he probably spoke the least, not because he didn’t have anything to say, but because he was too polite to interrupt like Sirtis.
I am still very very mad that Sirtis drastically reduced what I was able to hear from Greg Graffin, who is one of the most intellegent musicians there is, and who happens to be the leader of the greatest punk band, hell greatest band, ever.
Thank you, Sterling.
Now that I know what you all are talking about, let me add my input. Or, rather, ask a question. Well, both. Was this recorded bunch of drivel possible to follow? Not only was Marina repeatative, (You know? I mean…) but she made very little sense if any at all. Now, I could be wrong. (Although, considering the rarity of this occasion, I doubt it. :D) I did not see the show and I could be reading the transcript in a tone that was neither implied or intended. However, based on previous posts, I doubt that too.
Well, I have read the transcript and like to give a different take on it. First off I am biased I detest Christina Hoff Sommers, and others like her, Dr. Laura, Paglia , etc. who make a living as women attacking other women. Was Marina rude? yes, did she dominate the conversation? yes. In other words she was aggressive, something Sommers says women are not. Sommers is an ultra conservative who believes women and society as a whole were better off when women never left the kitchen. Of course this does not apply to her, aggressively proclaiming that men & boys have the short end of the stick. I don’t buy it.
