If the scene was filmed in Iraq, not Hawaii, there’s a fair chance they’re tossing a dead dog and faking the yi-yi-yi which explains why it doesn’t move, looks realistic, and the the puppies (faked) cries don’t jive with real world acoustics.

This thread is worse than all those conspiracy theorist threads on snopes where someone posts an innocuos picture, and the OMG TEH PIXELS crowd declares it fake out of hand. I think he threw occam’s razor off the cliff along with the puppy.
Real or fake, the guy should be charged with “littering”.
Also, at this point, the guy would have come out by now and explained that his grand plan of finding an procuring an incredibly real-looking fake dog in the middle of Iraq was just a weird joke. But he’s mysteriously remained silent. Hrm. Wonder why!

That’s just foolish. Many police officers do not even discharge their weapons in the line of duty. Marines in combat, on the other hand, do.
If the guy has been killing people for two to four years, perhaps his ability to feel that much empathy is a little worn down? Maybe he doesn’t give a shit if he’s being cruel any more? Perhaps he may have been thinking about going off the cliff himself and chose to throw the puppy instead*? Perhaps we might consider that the guy is not right in the head, and that this may well be due to OUR decisions, and so maybe we ought not to be fantasizing about what sort of horrible physical pain he’ll be suffering?
*How many innocent puppies would you throw off of a cliff in order to keep from jumping off of it yourself? Would you throw a puppy off a cliff and laugh about it to save your child?
That betrays your ignorance of how Marines are trained. They are trained to kill when ordered to kill or in self-defense, never otherwise. It’s nothing to do with empathy; it’s to do with duty.
And this training always removes the chance of them going a bit fucked in the head or always weeds out the fuckers who wouldn’t having a problem with throwing a pup of a cliff :dubious:
I doubt this is case, but it would be an interesting experiment to release a staged video like this to gauge people’s reactions to killing a puppy vs. torturing/killing humans.
Anyone remember the art project from a while back of a guy eating a baby? That looked damn real. But if these guys are really marines, then I’m not sure social experiments or art projects are their thing…

This is the only reason I feel that it could be faked. I have to believe that if it were a live puppy, it would be squirming to get in a upright position. I have a hard time believing that it would stay curled and just tumble like that.
Unless the puppy was sick and unable to get up to its normal puppy squirminess.

There’s an Internet rule of some sort that says people will instantly declare any photo or video on the Internet a fake, no matter how real.
The corollary is that others will insist something “looks real”, no matter how obviously fake it is. This is one of those times.
