I just happened to thunk this: When you’re in the full dress blues and need to take a pee, do you remove your gloves. Is there a proper ritual to all this that is proscribed? I remember once walking in on two who literally dropped trou at the urinal(they gracefully caught then on the way down with their knees).
Just a WAG, but from my knowlege of things military, it seemes that the best way to do this kind of thing is as quickly and with as little mess as possible, and then not to talk about it. If that means suffing your gloves under your hat, or holding them in your mouth, then so be it. Military rituals are like sausages, or politics - it’s best you don’t see what’s going on behind the scenes.
This one of the few functions not covered by a Marine Corps Manual, Order, or Field Manual. MNore often than not, I carried my white gloves when in Blue Dress Alpha or Bravo, it was normally not required to WEAR them.
Um, this might be one thread, Alessan, where “WAG” is awkward.
Practicality vs. Protocol!
What about bell bottom trousers too?
As are references to sausages…
And to trousers with “bell ends.”
Marines? Peeing? Etiquette?
Am I missing something here?
R. Lee Armey “Do yer business and move ON soldier!”
???
Salute during the performance?
So you’re thinking dropping trou doesn’t make them out of uniform, but taking their gloves off does? Woo hoo! As long as I don’t take my gloves off, I can run around with my pants around my ankles!
No, the latrine is a “safe zone” where you’re allowed to undress.
My Dad was in the Navy, and told the joke about the Sailor and the Marine in the latrine at the same time. When finished, the Sailor started towards the door and the Marine said, “Didn’t they teach you to wash your hands in basic training, Sailor?”
The Sailor replied, “They went one better and taught us not to pee on our fingers.”
